Re: Monitor blacking out

Why would anyone want to put a 701C screen on a W520?
This would be by far better: B156HW01 V.4 from a reliable seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/292252028070

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

Not sure if this has already been mentioned (can't possibly remember so many pages) but how about this? a Thinkpad, with 4:3 IPS screen, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, 32GB-DDR4 and a 256GB PCIe-SSD (2400MB/s read and 1300MB/s write). It is brand new. It is also possible to order a mainboard with a 73...

Re: What are your tricks for small resolutions?

Nope, that would be an FHD (1920x1080) screen, but you could run that at 1600x900 (I do).
A 12.5" HD+ (1600x900) screen has never been found anywhere.

Re: What are your tricks for small resolutions?

Another 'help' to get more screen height is to move the taskbar from the bottom to the side. With a mouse left-click on an empty portion of the taskbar, hold down that button, then drag the mouse pointer to where you want the taskbar. Works this way in Windows . For Linux (KDE) I found this: right c...

Get the T440p HMM for how-to and frubom list (parts) on which you will find lots of different mobos.
Youtube will probably have movies, as will Lenovo.

Piggyback solder the new fuse on top of the old one. Put some flux on the old fuse-ends first. Or use two pieces of thin wire, put some flux on each end of the old fuse, solder those wires to the old fuse-ends, then solder the new fuse between those wires. Make sure to properly insulate the new fuse...

Re: My T430s is dead after inserting 2nd drive bay

AFAIK the Remove-Hardware does not apply to the T430/T430s (and many other) machines. My best guess is that you have to power off before swapping drives. Why else would they have put two sliders (inaccessible during normal operation) on the bottom of the laptop? So most likely you blew at least a fu...

My partner is a teacher and she wants the X201 which has a 9 cell battery for school.
Does she have one already or are you looking?
I have such an X201 (3680-7S1) with X200s LED screen and 1440x900 resolution, that I may be talked out off.

Any non-widescreen T60 or T60p mobo (both Intel and ATI graphics) will fit and work.

I have two T60p mobos with ATI FireGL V5200 (not 5250) for sale, see: http://theboardroom.info/stock1.html

As I mentioned before , Lenovo produces over 30 different Series of laptops, some even more shoddy than the other! Re: Is the Yoga a good laptop for Teens?

The Yogas are too wimpy and breakable for that. On eBay alone there are currently over 1,400 Yogas for sale, NOT a sign of reliability I would say. I would suggest an X230 with IPS screen. It's a lot more robust. Or get her an X250 if budget allows, longer battery life. Either way, tell her that lap...

Try to (re)insert the keyboard connector.
You might also have dirt in the motherboard's KB-connector.
Or you got a bad keyboard.

Re: Updating processor

Intel T5500/T5600/T7200/T7400/T7600 will all fit and are quite affordable. (T7200 recommended)
After that you can still only use ~3GB RAM, but 64-bit OS will work fine.

With a bit of luck the "old" T420/x220 keyboard has been reused, possibly with different connectors. All we then would probably n...
