Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
It's possible that you're not doing anything wrong. Different units may have different overclocking potentials. Drat. You are right, of course. :( I will take solace that with the changes I made I doubled my T60p Flash Graphics performance. It is now fast enough for my current purposes. Much thanks...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Quick update: I replaced my T7600 CPU with an overclockable T7600G. At first I got it to run stable at 17x clock multiplier vs the 14x standard for the T7600. Later that locked up and I had to fall back to 16x. Others claim to run stable at 18x so I need to figure out what I am doing wrong. Also upg...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
An update: I tried ATI Tray Tools to accelerate the GPU. It made exactly no difference in results on this test. I still get 25/26 FPS in full screen mode at 1600x1200. CPU is running roughly 95%. whether or not GPU is accelerated. For Comparison I also tested at 1400x1050. The FPS bounces around a l...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
But I'm curious now, what browser do you test it on? Have you tried different browsers to see whether they perform differently? Or even the proprietary Flash plugin in Linux? Tested in IE8 and IE9 and FF11 (which uses same plugin as Safari and Chrome). Also tried a couple versions of Flash 11.x and...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Uh, using a Flash animation for benchmarking?I wouldn't call that authoritative. Of course not. Except.... if you read the original post(s) you may see that my specific problem is this exact performance and the need to improve it. So it is authoritative for this sort of situation. Nonetheless, this...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
My T61 runs at 1400x1050. Thanks. I should have also asked which Nvidia GPU, which must also affect results. As mentioned earlier, screen resolution has a major impact on this test. The more pixels computed for each frame the lower the FPS. I saw that when testing my system at different screen reso...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
I went to your T60 test page and I was able to get 32FPS on my T61 with Nvidia GPU and a T7500 on battery. I did not check under the "high performance" power option (i.e. cranking the system to max). Thanks for checking. What resolution screen do you have? When you say "high performance you are ref...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
I get about 25-45FPS @ FULL 1280:800 in HD & FULL screen with my T7300 & NVS 140m Thanks. It seems the reported numbers bounce around more when you are moving at the target speed of 40FPS. I would guess that is what is happening for you. For comparison, at 1280x800 I get 30FPS. I'm surprised it isn...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
My T60p has 2 matched 2GB DDR2 modules for 4GB total (3GB usable). Incidentally, I made a mistake in my earlier post. My external monitor is not UXGA (1600 X 1200) but WUXGA (1920 X 1200). That raises an interesting problem: why do we both report 20fps if your CPU is 16% faster than mine but my mon...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
I also don't know if combining a 2GB + 1GB RAM is even possible on a T60. Yup, it's a good option. Hmmm. "Good" maybe in terms of valid but not "best" in terms of performance as I understand it. Isn't there something about interleaving or parallel access to memory that is possible with matched RAM ...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Simply upgrading to Windows 7 increased my score, the hardware is exactly the same. So it looks like the GPU has nothing to do with these results. I assume you run on Win7 also? Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
With my T60 config (see signature) at 1600x1200, I get between 6-12 fps, cpu running at 85~100% cpu usage. Running the test again at 1024x768, performance increases to 12-20 fps. The only relevant difference between your and my system seems to be the GPU, which obviously still has a big impact even...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Apparently, it is not efficient enough to load the CPU to 100%. Hardware can be very strong, but if software is not smart enough to utilize it, you will have bottlenecks. Maybe. I'll try to see what my Flash experts think as well. I get between 30 and 33 FPS on my T61 with a T7300 and Nvidia graphi...

My machine fits the bill: T7200, V5200 GPU, 3GB RAM, Windows 7-64, Catalyst 10.2. I averaged 19-20 FPS Thanks! I was wondering what if any difference being docked might make, using an extra GB of RAM or Windows 7. Now I have my answer. I just installed a T7600 in my T60p. 3DMark06 saw no change whi...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Get Advanced Dock with external video card? Thanks for the suggestion, Moltar. In this case I don't think it would help. Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Thanks for testing! Apparent conclusions based on circumstantial evidence: * It seems GPU is not involved at all. Not sure how you conclude that. For instance, left click and hold on the image thereby stopping rotation. CPU drops to <10% for me but jumps to 85% while moving. So CPU must be involved ...

Re: Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Here is my take. Please let me know if it makes sense: As I read the Anantech review I should see roughly a 10% performance boost overall going from T2500 to T7200. Based on pure CPU power, going from T7200 (2Ghz) to T7600 (2.33Ghz) should result in a 15% bump. Total bump would be a good 25%.... dep...

Best way to accelerate graphics display performance on T60p?
Like many, I love the image quality on my T60p 15" Flexview screen, but I could really use a performance boost in display speed. Specifically I want better Flash animation speed, especially in full screen mode. (As an example of the work I want to show, check out my site, Tour de Force 360VR . Go to...

A31p / Atheros wireless connection problems
I've upgraded my A31p to a Atheros AR5212A based Mini PCI card and applied the patch. It works but not at 108Mbs. The card is a AR5002 type using the AR5212A chipset. The label says Nextel but I think they are all the same and only the label changes. It is suppose to be capable of 108Mbs. The Access...

Do these comps work ok plugged into AC without a battery? One sure-fire way of telling the adapter is working ok.
