Reinstalled SuSE 10.1
An yes, acpi events works. I guess that it has to do that this time I choose KDE as desktop and not GNOME as last time.

I uses www2.ati.com/suse as repository to install the ati driver (is not the latest). Works fine and nod bad quality fonts as you report

Strange, 1 did I clean installation and got no thinkpad_acpi_events.
I'll give it a second try.

Your driver is the same I was using. I'll let you know if I get good video perfortmance / front rendering

And thanks for the quick explanation about compiz, xgl and so on

OK, Now I have scratched it...(after testing 10.2 alpha) About thinkpad_acpi_events.... did you install the script manaually (if yes from where) I don't feel I had any special problem with fonts. Hi, for me none of the keys worked. No matter if I used xgl or not. I have tried OpenSuSE 10.2 Alpha 5 and all Fn Key work except Fn f7 So i'll guess I will wait for that release (looks cool) Regarding fonts... No I did not get any problem.
