Re: [X220] Wi-Fi upgrade

There should be two additional antenna wires available if you're not using the WWAN card. Intel's AC-7260 (7260HMW) works great for me. If you go for it just make sure you don't accidentally end up with a 7260HMW AN , which is a low-spec variant w/o AC. Or are you looking for something better than t...

Re: X220 Recovery Stuck

Just a guess but could it be that the Windows Setup (or some ThinkPad-specific partitioning tool) expects to find an MBR disk and you have a GPT one? You should be able to press Shift-F10 to open the console to be able to investigate the problem further. Normally you could check the logs, in particu...

X220 Windows 10 TrackPoint (UltraNav) both scroll & middle click w/o TPMiddle possible?

Has anyone been able to make both scrolling and middle-click work with just the Synaptics driver, without resorting to TPMiddle or any other third-party software? If yes, please post your driver version and any changes from the default settings you made. To clarify, what I have in mind is the drive...

Re: X220 doesn't sleep after IME update

Windows reinstall the driver if I just delete it. Tried to disable the device but nothing changed. You could try installing these latest drivers too: Power Management (N2HKU03W as of now): https://support.lenovo.com/downloads/ds539638 Hotkey Features (R0YVU27E, this one seems to be updated frequent...

Re: X220 doesn't sleep after IME update

Windows 10's Fast Boot feature can be the culprit here (by default Windows will no longer fully shut down, instead it saves its state to resume later, which is a largely useless and confusing anti-feature). Try disabling it: reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" /v "H...

Re: X220 unlocked BIOS: which settings are safe, and which ones will brick the laptop?

The only list I know of is the one you already found, and that one is not extensive. There is one setting, Advanced → System Agent → Graphics → IGD → IGD - TV Control , where just opening the available options is enough for the setup to crash (with BIOS version 1.43 at least). It's not a brick thoug...

Re: "ME is in recovery state" Appears when I boot my X220

which bios version do you have? It's 1.43 from John McDonnell's website ( direct link to file ), which includes modifications by Oleh and ValdikSS . It's the latest version with the newer VBIOS (later removed due to stability issues on Linux) and before all the Meltdown/Spectre mitigations of dubio...

Re: Thinkpad x240 does not work touchpad

Just to confirm, you also replaced the connector tape, right? That would be the most obvious culprit. (A new one should probably come with the new touchpad.) There is a key combination to disable touchpad ("UltraNav"). I think it's Fn-F8. Did you not press it accidentally? I'm not familiar with the ...

Re: "ME is in recovery state" Appears when I boot my X220

The boot delay is [...] like 1a2 seconds Interesting. For me the delay is >5s but I removed everything ( -r -t -d -S ). Was your ME firmware 1.5MB or 5MB? Mine was the latter unfortunately (AMT board, FRU # 04Y1834; there was supposedly non-AMT FRU # 04Y1835 with matching specs but it only seems to...

Re: X220 SD card reader not working with fresh windows 10 installation

This is the driver you need (G1S902WW):
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds038445

Without the driver it will show up as an unknown device (PCI vendor ID: 1180, device ID: E823).

Re: "ME is in recovery state" Appears when I boot my X220

Removing ME seems to introduce boot delay, also reported here: https://github.com/corna/me_cleaner/issues/38

Or are you guys just using Alt Disable Mode (me_cleaner.py -s)?

(Edit: This probably doesn't happen with Coreboot, so that's another possibililty.)

Re: Power manager, disable "non genuine" battery warning?

Rrtdj, you're my idol. Thank you so much! I've replaced the battery in my T60 today, as the "genuine" Lenovo one genuinely stopped working and would in fact make the laptop freeze randomly (yet another testament to the Lenovo quality: the previous battery was also faulty, of the exploding kind) and ...

Hi,

Yes, you can replace the LCD. 1400x1050 is also possible, but you would need to replace some other parts too, and the performance in higher resolutions may be bad with integrated graphics. For details see here:

Hi! No good news from me, unfortunately. TpFanControl does not work well with Vista on my T60. The computer freezes at times with distorted screen. Did you try unchecking the box: Hide modes that this monitor cannot display in Control Panel / Display / Settings / Advanced / Monitor?

And just to be sure: I suppose you are trying to change refresh rate for an external CRT monitor (not for an LCD display -- that would make no sense)?

Generally, it works. It sometimes crashes though, for unknown reason, which is dangerous because it does not give fan control back to BIOS then. Not sure about the duties, but most likely you will need to pay the VAT (which is 20% in Austria AFAIK) so it may be more reasonable to (a) research prices in other EU countries first or (b) buy the computer in person (or have somebody do it for you) and bring it in your hand luggage, which shouldn'...
