Ideal Temperature?

I've noticed by laptop getting kind of hot, and i just installed Speed Fan so i can monitor the temp.

I know this may be hard, since it really depends on what programs are being run, but what is a "normal" temperature range, and what’s excessive.

Input, highly appreciated

2.5" Enclosure

Can anyone reccommend a good HD enclosure. I currently own one but it heats up my 20GB drive, plus its uses one usb cable but splits into two cables which tangle up.

C:\Drivers folder

can the C:/Drivers folder (IBM Factory setup) be deleted. The reason i'm asking is because all the files are setup files, i assume the extracted drivers are in the Windows directory.. plus it's occupying 300MB.

any suggestions?

Thanks...

String of bad luck, a little help maybe.

Hi I recently had my T42 *2378-FVU replaced because of a bad motherboard. The new notebook I received was great until I noticed a red dot on the screen. I realized it was a burnt pixel, right in the centre of the screen. I had my Laptop hooked up to a BELKIN mini-dock, a couple of hours prior to not...

Whats with IBM!!!

Two weeks ago, I ordered a T42 that arrived with a “very, very” loose battery (believe me, I’m not the picky type). I spoke to an IBM and had a new one sent overnight. However, for the past few days I’ve noticed my wireless signal sporadically dropping down to zero. After speaking to tech support th...

T42 Hard drive specs....

What is the buffer size on the OEM hard drive that comes with the T42 (2378-FVU)? Is it 2MB or 8MB? I’ve been hunting IBM's website with no avail. Also, does anyone have a 7200 RPM hard drive installed? If so, is it noisy or does it emit too much heat? I’m pondering whether to get a 7200 RPM Hard dr...

HD problem?...any thoughts?

I just got my laptop, and i think i may have a bad harddrive. The reason i say this is because i'm having difficulties installing files to my system...everything from ad-ware, winamp, winzip (to name a few) are all giving me errors. The O/S works great as is, except when it comes to installing files...

Question about Hard drive upgrade

I own a T42. I have question about upgrading my hard drive. Ibm sells a 80GB hard drive for around 399 dollars, to be used with Ultrabay for additional storage. But it mentions that the drive can be used as a the primary drive. How is that? Can you open the thinkpad and replace the drive? Also i not...
