OK then, in a "revert" like this, I'd open up Device Manager and select the hub there. Then I'd go to the Driver tab and Update Driver , Install from a list or a specific location , navigate to the folder with .inf and see what it reads from there...can you see your Adesso when the .inf file is scan...

Kudos and thanks to LPC who packaged the stuff I bought for a long voyage, by what one can only term as "labour of love". Not a scratch, and very fast shipping as well, and he is one very sweet person to deal with.

Re: Installing driver - .sys

I've searched all over this information...I can't figure out where to place these files. It's a driver for an Adesso USB hub....3 .sys files and a .inf file. Any help would be much appreciated. I guess the .inf and the driver files are in the same folder. So right click on the .inf and choose "Inst...

Re: Clean install XP and still bloated?

I did a clean install of XP Pro onto an X60. After the basic install, about 2gb of boot partition is used. After running Lenovo's System Update and MS Windows Update - using both to install only "required", selected "recommended" and selected "optional" drivers and updates, nearly 5gb is being used...

I noticed the same thing in the A2x series and repaired the site with two-component epoxy, taking the brass nuts/casings from a broken base I had. Maybe you can do the same. If only I had the broken pieces (I noticed only one screw holds the hinge cover, the others' housings are borked). This puts ...

Thank you all for your responses. You guys are just great. I think I've fixed the problem. Bit the bullet and tore the machine apart after finding a LCD CCFL from Istanbul (haven't ordered yet). To my surprise one of the cables were broken at just the connection to the CCFL tube (came loose from the...

I think I have found a replacement LCD. Will let you guys know... Sadly, the replacement LCD was just that: so good to be true, for 100 YTL, roughly USD 90. It was for 13.3...Though I can keep the inverter, I'd be needing a new ribbon cable, new top chassis, etc...so I will go with the CCFL route. ...

Dumb question...are you sure that the cable is plugged in correctly to the inverter? It will unfortunately go in backwards and create a sizzling/popping noise. It occured to me as well. Most of the connectors have tiny grooves, that make them attach in one way. :-( Oh, for the ensuing health discus...

I can get my hands on this wifi-card: Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Wireless LAN card. 802.11a/b/g standard. Model: WM3B2915ABG Will it work in either (or both) a T23 or a T30? I'd try it with the one I'm using now, but I'm using it now :) . Unfortunately, neither disabling hi...

Re: What's the best video driver for Savage IX in T22 ?

Can anyone tell me the best video driver for the S3 Savage IX in my T22? I'm having some issues with Direct3D. My current driver is the one that XPSP2 put there for me, namely the Microsoft Certified IX 1014 driver v. 6.13.10.7050 from S3, dated 22 Jan 2003. As far as I recall, the T22 doesn't actu...

Re: T30 Full System Recovery, any suggestions on XP tweaks?

Depending on your setup and needs, you might want to disable some auto-starting services. I don't suggest you do that if you're uncomfortable doing it, as most of these are highly inter-dependant. If you will do it nevertheless, go with a guide, and tweak very few services at a time, reboot, use the...

Re: 2 explorer.exe processes in XP Task Manager

Of course, that is if you really want to disable it. The thing is, if you have to "kill" your Windows file explorer process for whatever reason, having 2 separate processes allows the desktop to keep running and not have to do a restart. Craig True, but $5 says the Windows default is disabled :-) A...

Re: 2 explorer.exe processes in XP Task Manager

Open up an explorer window, any window, say My Computer

Go to Tools --> Folder Options, click View Tab

Find Launch Folder Windows in a separate Process, uncheck it.

Reboot

Check if condition persists. It should not.

Re: Appropriate multimonitor software for the S3 Savage?

I think I might be hitting against the limitations of the S3 chipset. Is it possible to output to a 17" 1,280 x 1,024 LCD as your primary and have the laptop 14" screen as the secondary? I suspect this is possible on the T4x series given they are ATI and hence more advanced but what about the T2x? ...

Depends. I disable DNS caching, put my ISP's DNS (there's usually two DNS entries) into my router config, and use a custom Hosts file to block ads. Everything is much faster.
