Re: X220t always blows fuse f1

It did it again, this time in a different bag, and this time I placed the bag laptop-side up on the passenger seat. Mobos for this are cheap, but I don't want to keep burning through them. I want to try replacing the fuse with a slow fuse. Anybody know what kind of fuse it needs for F1 on the X220t?...

Re: X220t always blows fuse f1

Well, I do think that if this laptop had a design fault that everyone who puts it in a bag for one hour ends up with a broken machine, then we would know. This would also be one of the most original and intricate design faults ever. :) There may be something else at fault with your particular unit ...

Any time? How many motherboards have you replaced this way?
This will be the second one, but I have also only put it in a bag twice. I just replaced this mobo for that reason, and a few weeks later here I am again.

X220t always blows fuse f1

Any time I travel with my X220T, even though it is turned off when I put it in my bag, by the time I get to the (bag just goes in my trunk for an hour drive) fuse f1 is blown and i have to replace the motherboard. Is this just a flawed design?

Why so few T550 for sale?

Is there some reason there are so many used t530, 540, 560, and 570 for sale but so few 550?

Re: Backlit vs non backlit keyboard, is there a tactile difference?

There's a noticeable difference (although there's more than just "backlit vs non backlit," since there's different manufacturers). I really like the non-backlit keyboard. It feels like a step up from the classic "clown keys" keyboard. The classic keyboard is a joy to type on. There's virtually no t...

Re: Backlit vs non backlit keyboard, is there a tactile difference?

Well, the question I'm asking is not that subjective. I don't mean the feel in pressing the keys. I mean the feel of the keys themselves. Is one textured like the old keyboards and the other not, or are they the same in that regard?

Backlit vs non backlit keyboard, is there a tactile difference?

I see conflicting posts. Once and for all, is there a difference in the feel of the keys on the backlit and non backlit keyboards on the W530?

Re: T530 vs T550?

It looks like the keys are the same size as the T530's, they just made room for the numpad by moving the speakers to the bottom right? And while normally speakers at the bottom are the worst, it seems from reviews like in this instance they actually got louder? It is a shame they're all chiclet keyb...

T530 vs T550?

For a non-power user, which would be better in terms of things like reliability, repairability, compatibility (esp with Win 10), low temps and good battery life? And how big are the differences in these categories?

OK, found it, new information. F1 on the new board is blown. I can't see the display in the background anymore either. I also checked F1 on the old board and it is fine. Can the fuse be replaced or shorted? Bruce Shorting of course works and of course is not recommended. Yes, it can be replaced. Wh...

If it doesn't work for you, other things I think need to be installed are Lenovo screen reading optimizer (also a windows 7 only driver) and the thinkpad airbag (Lenovo Active Protection System).

Re: X220T Windows 10 auto rotate

I got it. Install from Lenovo the Windows 7 software called Tablet Shotcut Menu. It won't run, but all is not lost. After it is installed go to C:/program files (x86)/Thinkpad/Tablet Shortcut/LENTBCTL.exe then go to "settings" (it's grayed out, but you can click it), and there you can click a box to...

The hard part about the ones ending in 40 for me is that the lack of a clamshell is going to be terrible in a high dust environment.

Re: Which Thinkpads are the durable ones?

Well, they've made plenty of T and X series that are pretty dust and heat resistant. There is mil-spec without an IP rating for instance. Let's try this another way: which ThinkPads of the yesteryear would you define as durable? T60 caught a lot of flak, but mine has proven to be durable (except in...

Define "durable".

Which Thinkpads are the durable ones?

It seems like Lenovo periodically decides to make a laptop less durable with a new model, and then later changes their mind and goes back to making that line more durable with the one that replaces it. Starting with the T/W/X 520 era, which are the durable Thinkpads?

I would say I am unsatisfied with the viewing angles of the old one, but I don't want to take any gambles on compatability - are the other ones definitely still just plug and play?
