GClean from Abelssoft keeps Google under lock and key for the most part on my machine, which uses Comodo Dragon. GClean - The software that asks for your name and email address?? Re: X230T webcams and Windows 10.

Have you uninstalled/reinstalled the Lenovo Communications Utility? I assume that might've been one of the "half dozen things" you've tried. This might be a long shot, but check the Power Management driver. I recently had a very vexing problem with it on my X230T with Windows 7 in that it screwed up...

Re: [SOLVED!] Onscreen Display (OSD) Icons have stopped working

Well, well, well... It turns out I was not the only one having problems with Lenovo's Power Management Driver v1.67.14.05 (or v1.67.14.5 as seen in other references). There are four (4) -- count 'em, four -- pages of discussion here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Latest...

Re: [SOLVED!] Onscreen Display (OSD) Icons have stopped working

My earlier claim of victory was premature. But I have finally isolated the root cause and permanently fixed the problem by installing an earlier version of the Lenovo power management driver for Windows 7. The culprit was Lenovo Power Management Driver v1.67.14. 05 , which I had installed in mid-Aug...

Re: [SOLVED!] Onscreen Display (OSD) Icons have stopped working

Moral of the story: Always ensure that the services associated with your application are configured properly. Re: [SOLVED!] Onscreen Display (OSD) Icons have stopped working

My OSD issue is SOLVED! All Onscreen Display (OSD) icons have been fully restored. For some inexplicable reason, the "TPHKSVC" Service (ThinkPad Hotkey Service) was not/has not been running, unlike the "TPHKLOAD" service. Using a utility within Windows Repair 2018 Pro (Tweaking.com), I was able to s...

Re: Onscreen Display (OSD) Icons have stopped working

I mud-wrestled with this OSD issue all day and finally struck a compromise by placing a shortcut to “tpnumlkd.exe” in the Windows Startup folder to enable toggling of the "Caps Lock" on/off icon. It's a reasonable workaround, if not perfect. I've not been able to locate the executable that invokes t...

If/when you are ready to add another 8GB of RAM, I just purchased a stick from this vendor for my x230 Tablet. This is the cheapest compatible RAM I've been able to find.

[SOLVED!] Onscreen Display (OSD) Icons have stopped working

Within the past 48 hours, the Onscreen Display (OSD) on my x230 Tablet (Windows 7 Pro) has started to malfunction. Specifically, the “Caps Lock” icon status indicator and the keyboard backlight icon status indicator (low/high/off) have stopped working. Oddly, the status icons for screen brightness (...

I don't play video games, either.

What I miss most are the electronic kits of the 1970s and 1980s. When SMT (Surface Mount Technology) became the norm, I packed away my soldering iron for good.

FWIW, I recently acquired an Alfa AWUS1900 802.11ac 1900 Mbps Dual band 2.4/5 Ghz Wi-Fi USB Adapter for my x230 Tablet. Yes, it's an external adapter, but it works very well and might be an alternative solution for you. I just disable the internal Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 card and use the Alfa...

X230 Tablet with Windows 7 Pro x64. Has anyone downloaded and installed the latest update to ThinkVantage Password Manager (v4.70.22.0), which replaces it with Intel’s True Key (www.truekey.com)? Interesting little application.

During your development, did you tinker with brightness levels of the backlight? I've been looking for something that would add a third, brighter level without degrading (too much) the lifespan of the white LED array under the keyboard.

Re: Can not dock my x230

Welcome to the Forum, roxor. The reason it doesn't fit is because this particular model does not support the x230, only the x220. You need the ThinkPad Ultrabase™ Series 3 (0A33932) for your x230. You're entitled to your opinion. But the OP wants to try it, and I see nothing wrong with that.

Let the OP make his/her own decision to determine if it's "crappy, useless bloatware."
