I don't play video games, either.
What I miss most are the electronic kits of the 1970s and 1980s. When SMT (Surface Mount Technology) became the norm, I packed away my soldering iron for good.

Re: AC WiFi card to X230 (with modified BIOS flash)
FWIW, I recently acquired an Alfa AWUS1900 802.11ac 1900 Mbps Dual band 2.4/5 Ghz Wi-Fi USB Adapter for my x230 Tablet. Yes, it's an external adapter, but it works very well and might be an alternative solution for you. I just disable the internal Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 card and use the Alfa...

ThinkVantage Password Manager to be Replaced with True Key
X230 Tablet with Windows 7 Pro x64. Has anyone downloaded and installed the latest update to ThinkVantage Password Manager (v4.70.22.0), which replaces it with Intel’s True Key (www.truekey.com)? Here’s the ReadMe, which doesn’t shed much light: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/pwmupdatefr...

Re: Keyboard backlight control - potential solution
Interesting little application.
During your development, did you tinker with brightness levels of the backlight? I've been looking for something that would add a third, brighter level without degrading (too much) the lifespan of the white LED array under the keyboard.

Re: Can not dock my x230
Welcome to the Forum, roxor. The reason it doesn't fit is because this particular model does not support the x230, only the x220. You need the ThinkPad Ultrabase™ Series 3 (0A33932) for your x230. EDIT: I stand corrected by dr_st below. I was originally referencing an outdated Lenovo accessories lis...

You're entitled to your opinion. But the OP wants to try it, and I see nothing wrong with that.RealBlackStuff wrote:It's yet another piece of Lenovo's crappy useless bloatware, remove it.

I needed my non-thinkpad win7 desktop after literally 2 years of not booting it, and windows update stuck at 0% even after leaving it for 12+ hours. I tried current roll-ups and windows-update-KB-updates and all of them hang at 0% as well. thanks, MSFT. this is what worked: http://download.wsusoffl...

"I can download manually all of drivers, but system update is faster:)" In my experience, it can take awhile for System Update to catalog the latest drivers and software for a given machine model and type. Start the computer? As in, power on using the fingerprint reader? I was unaware that Thinkpad's could do that. I can assure you that in Win 7 I could start the computer with a finger swipe. It would also continue through the login with no pause to the desktop. Slightly OT, but I can also confirm th...
