T440s Won't Power On
I got my son a T440s for Christmas. Got a good deal on it. Now, it won't power on. Apparently, he dropped it on it's side while plugged in which damaged the DC jack. Nonetheless, he was able to charge it still if he plugged it in just right. Anyway, it continued to degrade until it stopped charging ...

Re: WTB: Win 10 ThinkPad
Those processors and graphics cards are desktop chips, so unless you go with a P series or high end T series (>$2000) you're not going to get anywhere close to those. That Flex 2 should be able to run Windows 10 easily. Many of us here use older machines with Windows 10. Try a full reinstall of the...

WTB: Win 10 ThinkPad
TLDR: My daughter is in an advanced curriculum in her middle school doing distance learning. She needs a better laptop. She is currently working on a Lenovo Flex 2 that is not meeting her needs. I want a ThinkPad for her (those of you who know me know I prefer the T-series, but I'm open to suggestio...

WTB: T420 or Comparable w/ Windows 7
My mom's computer went belly-up. She's been watching me on my T420 for years and thinks something like that will meet her needs. I agree. My parents live in a rural area; what internet they have is dial-up. They hate Windows 10 (and I don't blame them; I can barely use it, myself). So, what I'm look...

Re: Problem with T420 Hinges
As for the screws, check in the HMM what you all dis- and re-assembled. I did look through the manual to see if I could identify the two larger screws, but I came up with nothing. I guess they're just the standard 4 mm screws described, but who knows where they came from. You'll have to do it again...

Problem with T420 Hinges
So my hinges completely gave out after several months of being loose. They won't hold the lid at all anymore. So, me being me (a person who has assembled and disassembled his 600E several times), decided to disassemble my T420 and see if I can tighten the hinges. Well, if there is a way, I can't fin...

Re: Anyone Know about AccuType Keyboards on Different Lines?
you experience with the flex maybe different than what you would experience on thinkpads .. and maybe it is not .. there isn't much consistency. :??:  After all this time, I've finally managed to find a ThinkPad keyboard to test out at a Best Buy. I was pleasantly surprised. To test it out,...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)
At this point I'm wondering if the title of this thread should be changed from 'Thinkpaddres Rejoice' to 'Lenovo will never make a modern T43'. That's what I think. It's been years since they told us to expect a retro ThinkPad. I think the plug was pulled and they care so little about it or their c...

Re: Latch Won't Work After Replacing Bezel
I take it your talking about a T400/T500? I had the same issue with this on my T61. It turned out that the thin metal piece connecting the latches was not aligned properly. When the bezel was snapped and screwed into place, it would actually be making direct contact with the metal piece, preventing...

Re: T60 won't sleep/won't work with docking station
You can install all the relevant stuff w/o getting that Lenovo Upgrade programm. Also; any bad contacts in the dock connector? Did you reboot? Outside dock, that is? My W520' dock had no working USB on it's dock some time ago. I took it off, rebooted, and put it back on; USB worked again. I guess t...

Re: Latch Won't Work After Replacing Bezel
Update, I took it back apart and examined the mechanism on the underside of the bezel. I don't see anything obviously broken, and it works like it's supposed to so long as it isn't snapped into place. Once it's snapped in, however, all the action leaves the latch. Logic says it must not be fitting r...

Latch Won't Work After Replacing Bezel
Took the bezel off as part of the process of installing a new LCD. Latch works great until I snap the bezel in place. Then it doesn't move. What am I doing wrong?

If you run a business, get a desktop, ANY desktop, build it yourself if you like! They are forever more reliable than any laptop... I don't disagree. Re: WTB -- LCD for T420
Update. Crack is getting worse. A LOT worse. The flex in these newer ThinkPad covers really does a discredit to the legacy of the brand. My 600e had a horribly cracked LCD and it remained in the same condition until I replaced it because there was effectively no flex in the lid. Anyway, I was forced...

T60 won't sleep/won't work with docking station
I've had some significant problems with my T60 since I had to re-install the operating system. It hasn't slept since then. I have my monitor timed to turn off after one minute, and my HD to turn off after three. Nothing. It also doesn't sleep when I close the lid. This is annoying, but I didn't real...

Re: How to speed up the Retro Thinkpad Project
I'd hope they wouldn't turn down free R&D. I wonder what it would take for a bunch of Thinkpadders to get together and produce a high-quality laptop for the market. Obviously, we wouldn't be able to call it a "ThinkPad," but if someone produces a computer at least as functional as the T-series Think...

ACQUIRED -- LCD for T420
Long story short, I wasn't as mindful as I should have been and dropped a socket wrench on my LCD. It was a glancing blow, but there are cracks under the surface on the right side of my LCD.
Need a new one.

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)
I still haven't seen any 3:2 laptops in recent years. The "Classic Thinkpad" survey also seems to have completely ruled out 3:2. I suspect this might be a deliberate interpretation on their part. They didn't release the results, but I'd put some money on 4:3 and 3:2 together having at least as much...

Re: Time for a New Business Laptop
Are people just not typing as much anymore? Some of them can even type fast (>80 wpm) on virtual keyboards, using all ten fingers. I was sort of typing like that when I had an iPad Air last year, but didn't feel very comfortable. You know, when Star Trek went 100% touch-screen in TNG, I knew that w...

Re: Time for a New Business Laptop
Well actually, IBM pioneered the chiclet keyboard back in 1983: http://www.brutman.com/PCjr/images/PCjr_Chiclet_keyboard_small.jpg But people of that generation hated the chiclet-style keys that it never went anywhere. :p Are people just not typing as much anymore? I can't imagine any other logical...

To quote Abigail Adams, "I desire you would remember the ladies"! The tip of my finger fits too far down in a Soft Rim to be comfortable as the rim catches under my fingernail.
