Re: T490: Bluetooth Turned Off message, and "Device does not have Bluetooth"
I have a T490 although I rarely use Bluetooth. Does it show up in Device Manager? Maybe try reinstalling the driver  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds506566-intel-bluetooth-driver-for-windows-10-version-1803-or-later-thinkpad-p43s-p53s-t490-t590 https://i.imgur.com/ONCTwbv.jpeg

System Update Utility High CPU Usage Issue Fixed In New Release
Recently, users (including myself) have been reporting high CPU usage, resulting in the fan running high speed, stemming from the System Update Utility: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile-Workstations/Recent-update-to-Lenovo-Update-Service-eats-100-of-a-CPU-core/m-p/5064680 ...

Re: Lenovo warns of Windows 10 2004 crashing ThinkPad laptops
Thanks for posting that info. I had recently updated my T490 to Version 2004 but these latest updates hadn't been downloaded yet. That gave me time yesterday to check the Enhanced Windows Biometric Security option in the BIOS. It was already set to OFF. Still, I've paused updates to give me time to ...

Re: T490 is very sluggish
My T490 is not sluggish at all. I have Norton Security installed so I do not use Windows Defender. The summary specs are in my signature below plus an external link to much more detailed specs if you want to compare. I have CPU-Z installed but their results output text file is very long, too long to...

Hey nikki605, if you are using SSD, perhaps you should: 1) Turn off Defragger altogether (only HDD needs it; SSD does not need it), and 2) Turn off Hibernation (it writes gigabytes of data onto your SSD every time your computer Hibernates). Windows 10 Alert: Defragger bug defrags SSD Drives too oft...

Re: Weird Search Problem
I had a similar sounding problem several years ago when I first got my Win7 x64 T410. After weeks of troubleshooting, it turned out to be a conflict with my antivirus software. If I remember correctly (5+ years ago) just turning off my a/v didn't help. I had to actually uninstall it to prove it was ...

Re: eSATA power on both T410 and T420.
When I got an eSATA drive for my T410 years ago, I had to buy a "Y" cable to pick up power from the USB port on the right side of the machine. Clunky, but it works.

Problem With MS Update KB3170455 On T410
I have 2 Windows 7 Pro SP1 PCs: a lenovo M83 desktop & the T410 laptop. When installing the July MS updates, I ran into a problem only on the T410. The M83 is not showing any problems. I uninstalled all the updates and re-installed them one at a time. Turns out the problem update is KB3170455 and I ...

I forgot to mention that I do have that installed: http://i63.tinypic.com/27xlzpx.jpg
I'm just not sure if that's all I need to do. I'm waiting for the next release of Win7 updates from MS to see if I get the update notification balloon.

Re: How To Get More V Ram Memory From HD Graphics On A T410?
But other question (for me) - what is "Dedicated Video Memory"? AFAIK all intel GPU use system memory except Iris Pro. You are correct. On these systems "Dedicated Video Memory" is a specific amount of system memory that is reserved for video. On my T410 64MB is reserved out of 8GB system memory. h...

I installed Chrome with all extensions disabled. I set the Lenovo Power Manager to Maximum Performance. I also turned off Norton a/v and firewall. From the Taskbar, I quit all unnecessary programs running in the background. My goal was to maximize the T410's performance by stopping other tasks. Afte...

I've tried playing the Blindspot episodes with both Firefox and IE11. Surprisingly, IE11 is a little bit better but there is still too much stuttering to make it watchable. I've never installed Chrome.

Re: How To Get More V Ram Memory From HD Graphics On A T410?
More likely your performance issues are just a slow GPU rather than graphics memory. I especially doubt very much you need a lot of that for video playback. Even if you could have 2+ GB of dedicated memory on an Intel HD (Gen 1) it would probably have negligible impact. GPU performance has been inc...
