I have two Thinkpads and like the quality and reliability. But I have also had Dell Latitudes and Inspirons at work and they have performed very well. Much as we like our Thinkpads, saying that they are "100% better" then Dells isn't helpful. Your friend might want to look closely at the pricing on ...

I'm using a Linksys WPC55AG PCMCIA card in my A20 M (WinXP,SP2). Has the Atheros 5001X chip. I'm using the Atheros drivers. Range is excellent, better than the Intel 3945ABG miniPCI card in my T60. I'm using WPA2-PSK/AES encryption, and it connects quickly on boot up. Worth considering. I got the ca...

That drive will fit. You'll need the mounting bracket (shown in the photo). I put a UJ830SX DVD-RW/RAM drive in my A20m (running WinXP), it works fine. Are you running WinXP in your A22?

I'm using a Linksys WPC55AG adapter (PC card) in my A20m. Has the Atheros 5001 hardware, using the Atheros software, not the Linksys. The range is excellent, I think better than the Intel 3945ABG built-in wireless in my T60. The WPC55AG might be worth considering, software install was a snap and it ...

I also use Nero 6 for burning data files(on desktop PC), seems to work fine. I'm using the Sonic Record Now software on my A20m laptop with the Panasonic DVD-RW drive, has worked fine also.

For burning audio CDs, I have used Feurio for quite some time, think it is an excellent program.

Sorry to read about your struggle with the CPU upgrade. I have an A20m, model 26284SU, which I upgraded from a P3 700 Mhz to a 1 Ghz with no problems. I don't have a high level of technical knowledge about the motherboards, so these questions may not help. You have the latest BIOS? The original 600 ...

If you're looking for a bigger drive...I picked up a new-in-the-bag 60GB Hitachi IBM Travelstar HDD on eBay for $67 (shipping included). Ultra DMA-5. Quiet and stays reasonably cool.

I'm using a Linksys PCMCIA card in my A20m. Range seems similar to the built-in wireless card in our T60. Performance seems fine. Not sure how much performance you would gain with an internal card vs. PCMCIA or USB as asadniazi described.
