1) In the BIOS, you'll need to disable the pre-desktop area if you intend to remove the service partition. Then, when you install Ubuntu, tell the installer you want to repartition the drive. OR you could use one of the graphical partition programs from the Live CD portion of the install media. As I...

The key combos are more likely the result of the fact that you're pressing too many of certain types of keys at once. This triggers a beep on all Windows platforms, there is a thread elsewhere that describes how to tell Windows to stop doing that. I think part of the problem with the beep is that it...

My GPU usually hangs around 60-65 when I'm not doing a whole heck of a lot, and the fan does run at 3000 or more RPM's when it's running, which is prolly part of the problem - the fan shuts all the way off when it's done with a cooling everything below a threshold. If you're using Firefox, you'll have to manually install the CSS plugin. There's a thread on using CSS 7 with Firefox 2 and miscellaneous discussion about CSS 8. Internet Explorer should just work "out-of-the-box."

It uses a randomly generated password for the private disk created initially via the CSS wizard. There is no recovery of said password that I know of. If you manually use Private Disk to create the drive, you can set the admin password yourself and not have to worry about it.

You can disable the XP indexing service in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services; look for the "Indexing Service", right click, stop the service and set it to "Manual" or "Disabled" to prevent XP from starting it back up on the next reboot. You can also disable the service on a per-disk ...

I had a similar problem with a T-30 a few months ago. It turned out not to be the cheaper and easier part to replace - the inverter - but the backlight itself had up and died. Not saying you shouldn't try the inverter first, but if it's like the problem I had it more likely is the light itself.
