Re: Thinkpad X220 to 1X Carbon 2015?

I had a x220 and went for the X1 Carbon. Definitively a lot quicker, the 512 SSD is insanely fast :) I have the huge screenresolution, but I don't use it much, I mostly run the screen at lower resolutions, so could have saved those dollars. Mostly because of one of my eyes, which is troubling me at ...

Re: X1 Carbon (20BS, 3rd Gen) and Onelink Pro Dock

Have you tried the dock and computer in another house/location. To make sure that it's not serious grounding issues in your house? Other than that: The computer/dock connector might be damaged? Have you tried with the ethernet plug connected to another laptop (preferably just running on batteries), ...

Re: Right angle adapter for the rectangular charging plug

Sorry can't help but that adapter is quite smart. Might also save the computer if you trip on the cord too :) (Mine has been saved twice by the round to rectangular straight adapter)

Best bet as of now :(

Re: Thinkpad x1 Carbon 3rd gen Build Question

This same issue was driving me insane, so I removed the bottom 2 screws and replaced them with a couple spare ThinkPad screws I had. Here are the measurements Length: 3.55mm Width: 1.88mm The bottom cover now is solid as a rock. Smart. I found two, but looks like I have to exchange two more to make...

Same here. Seems like the screws are too long (or the holes not deep enough) on the right side.

Wondering if I should grind them down a millimeter or something :)

From the hardware manual:

Attention: If the supervisor password has been forgotten and cannot be made available to the service
technician, there is no service procedure to reset the password. The system board must be replaced for
a scheduled fee.

So get it from the previous owner :)

A very quick test before I went back to 8.1:
- I could not find any graphics driver, so video performance was bad.
- Fingerprint would not work

Other than that, it seemed ok :)

For me, the Helix does that :)

Especially after getting the touchpad to work like it should, it covers my needs, and I love the display :)

Re: ThinkPad X1 Helix (11.6" FHD IPS)

That's definitely good news. However, are you sure there's only one button that acts as right click? Because this picture of the ThinkPad Tablet 2 pen indicates that it's a 2-button pen (top and bottom of the button have separate function), and I will be surprised if the Helix pen has less function...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Helix (11.6" FHD IPS)

I am sorry to report that I was mistaken very much with the pen. After reading the manual I actually found a button on it. Will correct my other post.

In text fields it right clicks, in OneNote it makes a select tool.

Again, sorry about the mistake, (it's easy to miss)

Re: ThinkPad X1 Helix (11.6" FHD IPS)

A quick question about the digitizer pen: Looks like it does not have an "eraser" on the back, does it? How many side buttons does it have, and are their functions customizable? Absolutely not a eraser and no buttons at all, sorry :( (EDIT: It has one select button) The stylus from the Samsung Note...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Helix (11.6" FHD IPS)

Got mine today. Love the resolution, it actually works on the 11.6" display. Ethernet USB2 dongle included, and a mini displayport to vga adapter. The trackpoint/pad needs some getting used to. When using the trackpoint the pad turns off and only allows the use of the buttons on the top it seems. Cr...

Until I did the following:
Made a new power plan (with the Lenovo Power Manager), with the cpu speed set to automatic for both battery and plugged in. Now, it only runs the fan at low speeds, and it is quite a bit cooler.

Backpack for X61 + DSLR (Pic)

I'm trying to find a nice backpack that will hold my X61 (or any ~12" computer), a charger, and my Nikon D70 (and maybe one additional lense).

Any suggestions?

My (non Bluetooth) wireless mouse, which nonetheless operates at 2.4 GHz, does not interfere with my wireless adapter's performance (currently running at "G" spec), as far as I can detect. So it seems unlikely to me that that would be the cause of the problem. Well, 2.4GHz has a lot of channels.. S...
