Re: Cloning vs Imaging

I use Apricorn EZgig to make Clones of my HD. I have found that if I clone From Internal to External (Drive in USB Enclosure), the resulting Clone (after mounting it in the internal Drive Bay) is not reliable. About 20% if the time, it will not boot, just a blinking cursor. If I Clone from External ...

Re: Cloning Original Drive

I periodically Clone my original drive to a backup drive. You must remove the Original Drive from the Thinkpad and mount it in the external Drive Enclosure. Install the Drive that you are Cloning TO inside the Thinkpad. Then, using the Cloning Software, clone FROM the External Drive TO the Internal ...

Re: T61: Fuse F2 near DC-jack is blown, what value?

I have a T60 motherboard which I think may be suffering from a blown F2 fuse, but I'm not quite sure if I'm checking it properly with my multimeter. When I put the probes on either side of C72, the circuit right next to F2, I get 20.2V. When I place it on either side of F2, including the solder poi...

Re: T61p with loose hinges and bad mouse key

Regarding the Left Key: I had the same problem and Lenovo sent me a new palmrest assembly. Unfortunately, the problem will re-occur with the new touch key. I ended up dis-assembling the keypad and making a very small hole on the top of the right end of the key and wraping a staple around the metal c...

Re: Replacement Fan for T60 2613-CTO

I replaced my T60 Fan (Noisy after 5 years). I bought a Bare Fan on eBay from a USA Vendor that included some Heat Sink Compound. The replacement was easy although I had to be careful routing the wire from the Fan Motor at the point that it turned 90 deg as it left the Fan Housing. I cleaned the old...

Hello All, My parts depot tells me the "CTO" in my T60 type 2613-CTO's number means "configure to order" and therefore they can't tell which of four possible blowers is the right one for my laptop. Can anyone identify it from this picture? http://dl.dropbox.com/u/57869484/T60_Fan.jpg Thanks for any...

AFAIK, Desktops have plug in boards for upgraded GPUs.

Laptops have Discrete GPUs on the mobo.

Re: cloning problem

I have found that, using the Apricorn EZ-Gig II, you can make a clone from Internal (Source) to External (Target). However the Clone will not always be able to Boot. The only reliable method is to Clone from External (Source) to Internal (Target).

Go into the BIOS and set the recovery partition to "normal"

FWIW: The fan in my T60 runs at about 3100 rpm to keep the GPU at about 66 degrees C. It is VERY quiet. You can barely hear it in a quiet room. The 60gb HD makes more noise and it's also very quiet.

You Might try going into BIOS Setup and see if the wireless adapter is enabled. When my T60 was delivered, the Wireless Adapter was enabled but the 10/100 Network Adapter was NOT enabled. It did not show up on the Device list until I enabled it in BIOS.

Make sure that your Bit Depth (Display Properties/Settings/Color Quality) is set to 32 bit. Lower color depth will cause the effect that you are seeing.

Go into BIOS Setup and set the SECURITY setting for the Pre-Desktop-Area to DISABLED and see if that helps.
