linux computer stealing ip from windows computer

I have a T60 running slackware 12 with an intel 3945 wireless card and the ipw3945 driver. Same problem exists with the iwl3945 driver. When I connect to the local wireless network dhclient steals the ip from a windows computer that has its ip configured statically. There is still several unused ips...

I installed Slackware 12 on my T60. Had to istall the drivers to get wirless working with the 3945 card, and I installed the fglrx ati drivers, but other wise everything pretty much worked out of the box. I really like Slackware because I can so easily control exactly how my setup is, which is the r...

Couldn't you do:

echo 100 > /sys/devices/platform/smapi/BAT0/stop_charge_thresh

?

Or whatever threshold you want.

You can use tp_smapi to set at what point it starts charging and what point it stops charging. Some people say it is better to cut off charging at 95% or so to prolong battery life and to not start charging until the battery is at 35-40%. There is some how-to's on how to get it working at thinkwiki....

Which wireless card do you have?

If it is intel 3945 you will need the restricted kernel modules package installed.

As far as the keyboard check to see if you have it set to international mode or something like that. If you have it set to US-english it shouldn't do that.

Good luck.

I assume you have a hard drive of at least 60GB. You can repartition with one of live cds or gparted or the like and give yourself 10GB or so for linux and preserve your win. partition and experiment without fear of loosing your setup. Good luck.

I bought my first Thinkpad back in March of this year. I have only had to call about 2 issues and both times the reps have been very unhelpful and rude. I love my machine but I have definitely lost faith in Lenovo.

I have a T60 I got in March and I was able to install slackware linux on it without any problems. You should be able to do the same with a T60p and gentoo. Good luck.

I purchased a T60 back in March and it claimed to have a NMB. I was very happy with the keyboard from day one. I read quite a bit claiming that all the newer NMB keyboards were really rebranded Chiconys, but after examining mine further it is an actual NMB. Lucky me I guess. Thanks for the info.

For the keyboard area I use one of those brushes made for cleaning camera lenses that you are able to squeeze and blows air out. Works well for removing dust from that area. For the outside I use a soft cloth similar to what I use on the screen. Sometimes I dampen it with some water first.

trackpoint mouse buttons paste

Hello, I got my T60's trackpoint middle button to scroll like I wanted it to and now I learn that instead of the middle button paste that I am accustomed to in linux is accomplished by pressing the 2 outer buttons of the trackpoint mouse buttons. I use irssi as my irc client and I used to be able to...

I ordered my t60 with 2GB ram and they tell me that is what is holding mine up, new estimated shipping date is March 5. Seems odd they have gotten other computers with the same ram that were ordered after mine already shipped. Such is my luck.
