T60, T61 Hard Drive Password
Today I tried to copy some files from a T61 Win7 PRO password locked hard drive to a T60 WIN 7 PRO hard drive using the Ultrabay in the T60. The T60 would not accept the hard drive password. I have done this many times with WinXP created drives. I had to put the drive back into the T61 and remove th...

Re: USB 3.0 Express Card Problem
Looks like I got it working. There was a mini install CD but nothing worked when I pointed the driver update to each of the folders on the disc. Explored all of the folders and found an install for NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller. Opening this up and installing provided what was needed. Than...

Re: USB 3.0 Express Card Problem
Thanks for your help. Do not see any info that would lead to the chipset. PCI\VEN_1033&DEV_01948&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_03 Do not see any FCC number. It is apparently a piece of China junk. Will look for a better card and try it again.

Re: USB 3.0 Express Card Problem
It is an Inland Pro 2 Port USB 3.0 ExpressCard. http://inlandproduct.com/pro2portusb30expresscard.aspx
Site says it is compatible with Winxp. No driver is available for it on the site. I am confused why WinXP thinks it is a Universal Serial Bus when I insert the card.

USB 3.0 Express Card Problem
Trying to install a 2 port USB 3.0 Express Card. When I insert the card I get a 3 ring bell instead of the normal 2 tone bells as when you insert a USB device. The device does not install and drivers can't be found. Under device manager I see under Other Devices----Universal Serial Bus (USB)Controll...

Re: 15" Screen Brightness of Whites
Yes washed out would be accurate. The greens and blues on the XP wallpaper are just not as vivid on the 15" versus the others. The whites on my 14.1 screens are so bright and vivid I usually have them turned down one level especially at night.

15" Screen Brightness of Whites
Just wondering if it is my bad luck or what. Recently acquired a T-42 and a T42p with 15" screens. Under full brightness they are not near as white as the screens on my 14.1" T42 or my T30 or my T23. Possible inverter or backlight going bad or is that the tendency?

Powering Barebones Motherboard
I am playing around with a quirky T42 barebones motherboard. What is the bare minimum that needs attached to detect functionality? Have tried with power adapter, fan, CMOS, LCD, speakers and with and w/o memory. No response of any sort so am assuming it is dead. Am I missing anything?

Just wondering if the red epoxy balls around the GPU and Southbridge chips were applied to new machines when the problem was discovered or were they applied to machines that had been returned for warranty work?

T42 Missing Network Adapter
Hello. Need some help. I acquired a T42, 2373-N63. Had to install a new LCD due to bad backlight. The one I removed had the 3rd wire for Bluetooth. The screen I installed only has two wires which I connected. Did a fresh install of XP Pro with SP 3. Attempted to connect to internet via DSL connectio...

Re: T23 Volume Keys not Registering
I had the same problem with a 2647-4MU. I replaced the keyboard, made sure the correct software was loaded and reloaded. Was totally frustrated and finally gave up and got rid of it. Have had several other Thinkpads with no similar problem.

T23 Volume Control Buttons
I recently acquired a T23 and am finding my way around with it. Everything seems to be working ok except for the gray volume up/down and mute buttons. I can control the volume with the speaker tray icon but nothing shows on the screen when I press the volume buttons. The Thinkpad button works fine. ...

Thanks for the replies. Maybe the problem is not enough power. I don't have the usb power cable to try but will get one. I tried a wireless mouse and a memory stick which I wouldn't think require much power but maybe they do.

USB 2.0 PCMCIA Adapter Card
Is anyone successfully using a 2.0 USB adapter card in a 770Z? The card appears to install correctly under WinXP Pro but devices installed in the card are not recognized or powered up.
