Re: T43 2668 cto overheats in docking station
I stuck the original hard drive with xp pro and no problem, only with windows7 and only after doing some upgrades and adding seamonkey and firefox. Going to do a restore from the day after the win7 install 2 months ago and see how that goes.

1.73 ghz pen M, what is TPFC ?ajkula66 wrote:Hi there, neighbour!
Yes, T43/p runs hotter under W7. All of mine do.
Docking it doesn't help the matters either.
Do you have TPFC installed? What CPU is in that machine?

T43 2668 cto overheats in docking station
Picked this up a few weeks ago and installed win7pro standard MS win7 dvd. Did all the lenovo updates with their software updater and it has been running fine on battery and adapter. Pulled my other T43 1875 DLU out of it's docking station and put my new one in, booted and came up fine, migrated my ...

Re: t40 doesn't recognize usb ports
Reinstall your chipset drivers, take note of the chipset in device manager, ie 815, 865, etc then grab the chipset from either IBM or directly from Intel. My normal install from scratch is OS, chipset, then other drivers before it even gets a network cable plugged in. I just did an HP a couple of we...

Re: Cloning: WinXP doesnt mount automatical USB drive on restart
A couple of companies made laptop ide to normal ide adapters, I just boot a normal PC with either norton ghost and do a disc to disc. Oh, when I want to do a thinkpad to external USB drive I built a norton ghost cd with USB support, it takes a while with 1.1 but goes pretty fast if I have a USB 2 PC...

Source for T40's or T42's
Need to pickup a couple of factory refurbs, who is the best source, I want them to come in IBM boxes and not just plain brown ones that some joe schmo re certified. I bought my last few at J&R music world but they don't have what I'm looking for.

Re: Replacement battery not recognized, not charging
One suggestion when taking it apart, take a piece of thick cardboard and punch matching holes in the cardboard to match the holes in the base, put screws in as you remove them. Once you remove the keyboard use another piece of thick cardboard, draw the top outline and again, punch matching holes in ...

Re: wireless card for T30
OK, I have been looking at the wireless cards, I pulled one from a T40 that worked and stuck it in my T30, it's a 91P7406 which comes up as a cisco and does not work, signal strength is Zero on the IBM utility and I did the windows update and downloaded the update, still no go. The card is a *maybe*...

I bought my T30 over 18 months ago as a factory refurb after someone had leased it I guess, cost me $300 at J&R music world, added 2 one gig sticks as they went on sale at staples, then replaced the CD burner with a DVD burner, went to a 120gig 5200 rpm drive. I use it every day on service calls, it...

Go to 'my computer' right click, properties, hardware, device manger. Highlight soundmax, right click uninstall, once it is uninstalled reboot the computer, the new hardware found will run and the drivers should reinstall... Yea, I got mine off Ebay too, but the supplier was local to where I was staying with family while doing a job in NYC. The only software I added was a newer version of Nero. T30 DVD booting fedoracore 7 +R vs -R
I burned an ISO of fc7 and tried installing on my t30, it won't boot off the DVD, the DVD's are +r and boot two desktops fine, just won't do the T30, is there a limitation in the T30 and if so how to resolve it. I'm burning a new copy on a DVD -r now to see if that works. Darn, it did make a differe...

I screwed up and did not read ALL the faq
T30, original 40 gig HD, ran fine, took it out and imaged it thru a USB adapter to a spare hard drive on one of my SUSE10 machines. Then imaged that file back to the new 80 gid hitachi. Would not boot, put original back in and that would not boot, still have my files on the desktop suse machine, soo...

T61 MB's backordered ?
One of our execs just got a T61, vista about 3 weeks ago, it went belly up three days ago. On site service found bad MB and tells him they are back ordered. Is this an issue ? I'm considering ordering 4 to replace some desktops here but after hearing this am having second thoughts.

New Hatachi 80gig drive and dual boot question
I just ordered a 80gig hatachi travelstar for my T30. The OEM drive has the 40gig drive with the two partitions, the pre_load 35.62 NTFS and the 1.64 fat ibm_service. I want to clone the drive as is using the 40gig I have and want to use the other 40gig for a linux, fedora core6 or 7. What I don't w...

OK, so a dock and a replicator are two different animals. I guess I have only run into docks then and not replicators. Makes sense, the docks I've used have PCI slots built into them for expansion in a few cases, I assumed that if the replicator had a USB and Firewire plug they also had the correspo...

Wait a minute, I've used compaq and some other brands with docking stations that had SCSI adaptec controllers built in. There was no SCSI support or hardware on the laptop but the controller on the dock handled the work. Why not on the port replicator ? One of my PCMCIA cards has one USB2.0 port and...
