WTB: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz (PC3 8500) laptop DIMMs

The title pretty much says it all, just let me add that I have no interest in "no name" brands or "value RAM" offerings.

PM or email me directly to tataslonATaol.com with any offers, questions or concerns.

Re: Temperature Sensors Accuracy

NHC works fine on later Dothans, I have it installed on my T43p which sports a PM 760.

To me personally, the ability to undervolt the CPU is priceless, especially on T43/p units and that's what I use NHC for the most. Everything else I could live without.

Good luck.

Re: Temperature Sensors Accuracy

So far none of my notebooks have shown any problems with loose solder areas ... have had them since around 2010, so maybe a 'newer' motherboard was put into these notebooks, if they had a solder problem at one time. Maybe I have just been lucky so far with handling them carefully. ... Well, given t...

Given that T43 already has a PATA to SATA converter, you are likely to run into issues by adding another converter which is included in the UltraBay adapter.

It's been a long time since I have last played with an unmodded T43, but I foresee problems with the route that you're taking.

Good luck.

Are you also sure that these parts (especially the wireless adapter) would be compatible on a Linux system?
Yes. Linux distros prefer Atheros-chipped cards to Intel ones, generally speaking.

I upgraded the cpu to 1.7 dothan already. I was asking if the difference compared to 2.0ghz dothan would be worth the upgrade. Thanks.
Not in my opinion.

PM 735 is the coolest-running Dothan in my experience, and I'd stick with it.

I don't have a machine to offer but do bear two things in mind:

a) a 14" unit will support SXGA+ only with ATi graphics.

b) a 15" unit will support SXGA+ with Intel graphics but these systems are very rare and tend to command a premium price.

Happy hunting.

Aggressive undervolting and high quality thermal compound should assist. Yes. Definitely so. Some of them are just doomed OOTB. My first T61p - bought brand new from Lenovo - was an overheating piece of garbage no matter what one did to it. It went through four planars in three years if I recall co...

Back in the day, it was said, perhaps on the Lenovo site, that only a small, though nonetheless significant, number of these machines died. If that was true at the time, is it still true? Or are almost all of them bound to fail? Well, Lenovo tried to downplay the issue for the longest time, until t...

Can't find any one specific thread about it but the general gist seems to be a 750/850Mhz module that was desoldered and a 1Ghz die put on. Having played around with the machine for a bit, I am definitely going to keep it. It has the best screen of all my TPs, and I can't bear to part with it. You'd need a pinmod to be able to use PM 780 at T42 at full speed of the CPU.

My take ? These machines are lovely typewriters but not much more nowadays. Stick with PM 735, which is in my experience the coolest-running Dothan of them all.

Rare if they somehow survived - Zenith built 300, flawless Ti-Lid Z61p, X41 with the OEM HDD, any ISS ThinkPad. I don't believe that Z61p ever had a Ti lid as a factory option. There was a custom one (at least) built around here though, I believe by underclocker ... As for ISS ThinkPads...I believe...

Going from a HDD to SSD makes a big difference. From SSD to SSD not so much. If the Intel is working good, I wouldn't upgrade unless I want something of larger capacity.
