Re: Need help(!) Middleton BIOS T61 Windows 10?

1 Should I turn off the security chip in the BIOS before flashing the Lenovo and then the Middleton BIOS? I've since read (someone's opinion) that Middleton could be seeing the chip on as Bitlocker? Can't say since mine is always turned off, period. I guess that turning it off prior to the flash wo...

Re: Thinkpad R61 Upgrades Questions?

The 15" either widescreen or not has much better upgradability. 1440x900 max resolution on 14" 1920x1200 or 2048x1536 on 15" Fair enough. T61p Planar can go into both 15" units for a dedicated GPU vs. Only Intels Intergrated which wasnt good for much of anything besides displaying basic graphics, u...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

Personally I don't care much about ratio, just vertical pixels. Anything less than 1000 feels cramped. 1280x1024, 1400x1050, 1680x1050, 1920x1080 are all OK with me for 12" screens. Anything less than 1000 is absolutely worthless for *my* needs, not just cramped and I would *really* like 1200, d a ...

Re: Thinkpad R61 Upgrades Questions?

Since you clearly have some cash floating around, hop your self on eBay and pick up a T9900 or Q9000 processor. OP would need a different modded BIOS along with a pinmod to use any of the CPUs in question... As for the "better" CPU...a T9300/9500, but it really won't be a huge performance upgrade. ...

Flash the BIOS by booting it from a live ISO CD/DVD and leave the OS completely out of the equation.

Good to hear that. Disappointed by the screen though. Have same problem with my screen, only couple of lenovo laptops have decent panel, rest is just bad. Have you tried calibrating the screen? That's an absolute must for these panels and there are some pretty decent profiles floating around the web.

Just return it. W530 is not exactly a rare system.

A proper LCD - not some piece of "compatible" junk - will run you more than $50 presuming that you can locate it to begin with.

No.
If yes, can XGA panel be used with SXGA+ cables and inverter?
No. You need the cable that matches the screen resolution on old (pre-T60) ThinkPads, even if you were to source a proper T2x panel.

You can also use an mSATA card with an adapter in just about any other ThinkPad, folks around here have been running their T4x systems that way.

A31 was offered with weaker graphics and lacks the S-Video-In port as well. Not that it's a huge deal nowadays. 2. How reliable are them? Not. Reliable. At. All. Als...

Also, the notebook industry in general started moving towards slimmer designs - beasts like old Alienwares excluded - and a T30 was just way too bulky.
