I know that there were two different types of Nivida chips that were used in these laptops, I know that the smaller one, Quadro NVS 140M, has the manufacturing defect. Does the larger one of them, Quadro FX 570M, also have it?
Yes.

Re: Finding a high resolution T61 with intel graphics?

A couple of things here...

It's a lot easier to swap the entire LCD assembly than just the screen itself.

One can most certainly "mix & match" the parts, and going from a 1.8 to a 2.6 CPU is not a problem on these machines.

If the yellowness is caused by one of the layers, it's not fixable at all.

The labels on the bottom that say "Manufactured for Lenovo (Singapore) Pte, Ltd." on all of them and a Windows 7 COA for Lenovo Singapore on two of them. Really enjoying the legacy theme! Very nice work and thanks! One thing that seems to have gotten lost - or at least I'm missing it - are the links to "new posts"/"unread posts"/"your posts" that were located in the upper RH quadrant of the original old layout. FS: parting out a 14" T43p, inexpensive/free parts available

Here we go... 1) A complete 14" SXGA+ (1400x1050) LCD assembly, everything included, plug and play. The lid is *very* worn, nothing broken but sports quite a few scratches and overall general wear. The screen is clear and bright but has a couple of pressure marks. $15 2) Keyboard FRU 39T0581, for 14...

Re: Finding a high resolution T61 with intel graphics?

. Do you know how I can find these easily? Yes. You could also just swap the motherboard for an Intel one. Also, I love the high resolution that my T61 has on the 15.4 screen, I got 1680 x 1050 and would like to keep that, but the question is: Do the intel chipsets support such a high resolution or...

Have a look here and tell me what you like: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styles-2 - having a consensus for (hopefully just) a couple extra styles is ideal. Just be sure it's compatible with phpBB 3.2. I'll speak with RBS and Bill and if it's a go, I'll get it up. There are also styles here: h...

If that doesn't work, we'll make several styles available so that you can choose something different, but none will perfectly replicate the old style. I'd be very interested in this option. Not to knock down anyone's effort and work, but these new styles should've been offered in the first place. I...

Haven't had time to look into the SD situation.
Dead SD card reader is a fairly common complaint on these systems but I can't say that I know *exactly* what causes the issue. I have yet to read about anyone resolving it short of a planar swap.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum! There's one way to find out whether the intended upgrade will work or not, and that's to actually perform it. Having said that, there are two things that one should bear in mind: 1) Upgrading the BIOS to the latest one (2.27 I believe) with the current CPU in place would be adv...

SOLD!: Plextor M6 Pro 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC SSD, barely used

This one: http://www.goplextor.com/Product/Detail/M6_PRO#/Features Excellent drive in my not so humble opinion. MLC and not TLC NAND like the newer Plextors. Left over during my downsizing process, likely has no more than 100 hours of actual use on it. Will ship in the original box if I can find it....

Sound cards RARELY ever die. I've only heard of one dying and it was in a server doubling as a dust bunny storage unit. A sound card going south was not uncommon on A3x series, but I haven't personally experienced the same issue on an A2x. Given the description of no sound coming out of the system ...

No. I just wanted to take the dead battery out of the equation as a possible culprit.

That machine is either overheating or has some sort of a motherboard problem IMO.

Best and fastest (IMHO): Samsung HM160HC 160GB 5400rpm +1. Far less audible than WD 320 as well, IME. G4x units are fine systems for running XP, anything newer will be severely limited in the graphics department.
