Re: T41 WPA2 issues?

I've never had success connecting my T40 or T41 to WPA2 with the integrated 2100 card. I don't think the 2100 cards are compatible at all with WPA2. I've been using Netgear USB N600 on these machines instead. I've read conflicting reviews regarding 2100B and WPA2. Can't remember the last time I act...

Very strange.
The charging fuse on the motherboard is most likely blown. It can be replaced, but the procedure requires proper testing with a multimeter and good soldering skills.

Re: What OS do you use/recommend for T61

I run W7 64 Ultimate on the T61p in my sig, and it runs like a charm - given its (vint)age - but 8GB of RAM and an SSD definitely help. If I were to move to something *nix-based right now, I'd likely go with some Debian-based distro, but there are so many other viable choices as well... My $0.02 onl...

I would NOT play with adapters that have a higher Ampere ratings, regardless of voltage. But that's me.

The part which I don't quite understand is the one about the airline regulations. I've travelled to and from Europe with both 72W and 90W adapters, never an issue... :?:

Re: Windoze7: Life after End of Life ???

As it stands now, W7 is the last MS OS that I'll ever use on my personal systems.

And my W7 installs have been locked down for a while now, blocking any updates. Nothing bad has happened.

I see no reason why any of this should change in 2020...

Obviously, YMMV.

Re: FS: Kaervak's tech box clearout

That widescreen keyboard FRU 42T3937 is NOT from a T60. It was made for T400/R400/T500/R500/W500 series, and actually made by NMB. The T6x KB fits in the above, and the opposite is probably true as well (never tried it myself). Indeed. That keyboard can be used on any system T/R/Z/W system from 60,...

You don't need a modded BIOS unless you're replacing an internal WWAN card with a non-approved one.

Which system are we discussing here to begin with ?

I've seen that "blueish" hue on Hydis panels more than once, but not on an ID Tech. No wisdom to offer, you may just have to learn to live with it.

On a different note, is it my aging eyes or is that screen glossy ?

If your USB still does not work properly, you may need to reball the Southbridge. This. My experience with T4x series has been that once the USB ports start going out - usually a sign of an ailing Southbridge - one really can't predict how the system in question will behave. My approach would be to...

The expense of the parts would not be the only expense for me, as I am not a technician and would need to take all of this to my technical repair guys. This makes the W700 a bit more attractive. To play the devil's advocate here, W700 is an old system by any criteria. You'll need help with repairin...

SSD is "worth it" in *any* system that will play nice with it - as in from T4x series on - and T60 is no exception. IMO, that is. T7200/7400 is an inexpensive upgrade nowadays and well worth a few bucks in my book. I'd stay within the 32-bit realm software-wise even after the CPU upgrade, though. My...

Being older design language I would consider T61p to be fairly retro. Which is above and beyond ironic given the backlash that Lenovo had gotten at the time for moving away from the 4:3 ratio... To me personally, any combination of terms "ThinkPad" and "retro" implies a 4:3 system. This post brough...

@visitor: I'm not familiar with either of the drives that you're considering, but would advise going with at least 240GB nowadays, smaller drives are always slower...and the price difference is usually not huge...
