Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

If its a classic key shape, it can´t be a Chiclet keyboard. The key mechanisms are the same anyways, so the key shape is the major differentiator between the two styles. Huh? The key mechanisms differed between manufacturers on the same generation of keyboards in the "proper keyboard" era. So which...

Major house cleanup: Z61m Titanium + R61 + T42 package deal (more of a steal really) READ ON

Living space is becoming an issue in my HQ, and I simply *must* make room for stuff that I've acquired lately...so I'm offering a fabulous one-time-deal to forum members here, good only until October 2nd, 2017 when all of these systems will end up being recycled. The bottom line is really simple: ta...

Re: FS/FT: my personal R61, 15.4

Do you happen to be in the EU? Also looking at this no battery? No sir, in the US. Battery would not be included at this price, but can be negotiated upon at additional cost, although shipping to Slovenia would likely make this transaction a very expensive one. Feel free to PM me if you're still in...

It should be noted that 51nb does provide a good warranty and responsive human support.
YMMV and then some in this respect. Speaking from personal experience here. This thread, however, is not the place to debate that particular issue.

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

There is something to be said knowing that if your compiter just flat out dies, someone will come to fix if for free. Fair enough. There's also something to be said about the fact that a T430s motherboard is not exactly expensive nowadays, and the same holds true for the FHD panels used for the mod...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

Exactly. The T430s i7 w/ IGP had Thunderbolt 1 and could be hacked with full HD and old keyboard both. Which, in my mind - all the other disgusting aspects of the Retro tale aside - negates any reason to buy the fancy-logoed T470 with a proper keyboard. I'll never need 32GB of RAM, and a system tha...

That's pretty much where I stand as well. I'm simply allergic to having my intelligence insulted, period.

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

Very small volume + high development costs = high price Let's not pretend that such a system would have to be designed from scratch, because it wouldn't. A model like the W700/W701ds sold slightly less than 100,000 units in roughly three years and still barely covered development costs (at least th...

Re: Thinkpadders Rejoice (*LARGE PICS*)

@ajkula66, 10" and 12" 16:10 panels are still being made for Tablets, since years actually. So Panasonic likely uses one of those panels. Lenovo uses one too, for the Miix 510, which is a Surface style detachable. No sir. I haven't seen a 10" tablet with a 1920x1200 IPS LCD, and that's what the sma...

Of course, every display-manufacturer is happy to make special panels for a much higher price. But what I am talking about is the standard. Well, wasn't the Retro supposed to be special in more ways than just one? Let me be the devil's advocate for a few moments here: 1) If all that we're getting i...

Re: ATI FireGL v3200 in what models is used

Welcome to the forum! I,ve bought a Thinkpad t41 but with FireGL 3200 and 1.8Ghz CPU. Is this the original motherboard? No, if the V3200 is indeed in there, that board came from a T43p which is the only ThinkPad that sported the aforementioned GPU. You effectively own a 14" T43p. Also does the GPU h...

Yes, IMO but that really depends on what you're intent the using the system for. If you want to go with serious graphics work, video rendering or gaming, you'll need a newer machine altogether. For most other purposes, a T61/p will do just fine.
