Re: T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)

Here is why I was wondering if anyone actually tried this. https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/9f1sgc/t480_with_64gb_ram_is_that_possible/ Of course, the chances are that there's some misunderstanding (on campuspoint.de's part) as I could not find any other manufacturers using 8th U processor...

T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)

Hi there! Has anyone got their T480 working with 64GB RAM via 2x32GB SODIMMs? 32GB sticks are fairly new (thus expensive), but a maxed T480 (i7 8650u + 2tb ssd + 72wh battery) would make an ideal 14” mobile workstation for work without break the back. I’m not a great fan of the P1/X1E due to the lim...

Re: W530 + dual 4k via dock

hello, to close the loop on this "adventure" - i have finally got dual uhd (4k is actually 4096x2160, whereas uhd is 3840x2160) monitors "kinda" running with my w530. hope this post helps someone else who might be thinking to do the same. limitation: do not use the dock the MST hub (component respon...

Re: W530 + dual 4k via dock

Just an update, Having unpacked the second 2780-4k, I can confirm that the first display is a dud. I have swapped ports, cables and display modes and throughout, the second unit does not exhibit the flashing whilst the first unit consistently flashes. I can now confirm that I am able to power the bu...

Re: W530 + dual 4k via dock

thanks pianowizard, if the dual 4k set up was working, i would probably not need the extra HD from the built in monitor ;-) trying to shoehorn w530 to drive 2 4k screens does feel like a lost cause. it sounds like an awesome set up, however, realistically the options are: (1) return the screens with...

Re: W530 + dual 4k via dock

Hello, I ordered 2x VP2780-4k, of which the first arrived last night. For me, I could not get the displays to work correctly via the DP ports via the 433835U dock. nVidia control panel only shows full 4k (3840x2160) @ 30Hz, however at this setting, the screen occasionally flickers black - there was ...

Re: W530 + dual 4k via dock

thanks lead_org / fb1996, i know that nvidia k2100m (in a previous w540, which i dont have anymore) supports MST (multi-stream transport), suggesting that it would be able to support DP daisy chaining. *however*, i think was under the impression that the k2000m (in the w530 - laptop in question) doe...

W530 + dual 4k via dock

Hello, Has anyone tried powering 2* 4k monitors from their w530 + 433835U MiniDock Plus (via DP)? I have a w530 with nvidia k2000m, and looking to purchase 2x VP2780-4k. Google shows that its certainly possible to power one, but I've not found anywhere with definitive evidence confirming if it can p...

Hi there! I recently installed the "Thinkvantage Toolbox" for Windows 7 x64 - all is well until I noticed that the "explorer icon" has now been over taken by the Thinkvantage icon when the task bar is set to "always combine, hide labels". To recreate: 1. Install Thinkvantage Toolbox on Windows 7 2. ...

Superego,

I am using an Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter (Aethos chipset?).

I seemed to remember coming across a few articles a while back about these cards being problematic, i wonder if this is still the case?

Thanks,

i'm sure not that the keyboard customizer would do it as the power on usb is independent of the os.

here is a pic of my x60 (on top of a t60 and a r60 :-) ):

it looks like i'm missing a third antenna :-S i might give the UK support a call later on this week, though this may be troublesome as my x60 is from the US.

hi there, this post is for those of you who has the ThinkPad agbn WiFi cards. when i opened up my x60 (1907CTO) to check for myself if i had the second PCI Express slot, i too noticed that there are only two antennas connected to my agbn card - the third connector is empty. i have since found the FR...

hi there! just thought i'd share some info with my fellow thinkpad users. problem: scrolling with the trackpoint or trackpad doesnt work/crashes the driver. cause: by default, when you scroll the software tries to find the scrollbar associated with the corresponding pane. this works if and only if t...
