Respectfully, isn't this essentially a request for a budget tablet? It's hard to see budget anything marketed under the Thinkpad line -- it's more realistic to hope for a tablet version of the Asus EEC PC. I think the days of the 512MB RAM option on X are over ... Nothing further from my intentions...

@ Vasco Almeida Would you think of doing a complete reinstall, just to ... Thank you for your support, Trekk69, but no complete reinstall for me: I have uninstalled ThinkVantage Update, Access Connections, Power Manager, plus Rescue and Recovery. Now I get 3.5 minutes from hitting Restart to wired ...

A modest and reasonable suggestion

I have just appended the following test to the X61 forum, and thought it would be of interest here as well: "A few months ago, I bought my daughter an X61T. In the meantime, she has spent two months - without internet access - in a foreign country, and came back for xmas vacation with one BIG compla...

I just did a RnR Custom Install than instituted a bunch of the vista tweaks from: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3945 (esp TuneXP) And have found that my boot times are unbelievably fast now A few months ago, I bought my daughter an X61T. In the meantime, she has spent two months ...

It sounds like windows is corrupted. Have you tried saving your data and restoring to factory condition using the F11 key at startup? You should not be having all those problems. Thank you for your suggestion. But would it not be more reasonable to downgrade to XP, which should have far less trash ...

... Turn off your system, turn it over and write down the 7 digits long product number you see on the back on a piece of paper (mostly in 1234-5AB format but not limited to) and go here and input it. Please post it here as well. Sir, Thank you for your speedy reply: the mach/type model is 6366-K7G,...

X60T : crap mach, incompetent manufacturer or stupid buyer?

... or maybe the three put together, me being the stupid buyer. I bought an X60T for a daughter of mine, and she has no reason to thank me for it: 1. Takes ages to start and shutdown, and at both occasions Windows is always busy "configuring updates". 2. Gets real HOT, I doubt that I can finish this...

X60T problems

1. When I power on my recently acquired X60T, a cmd window pops up briefly complaining that "leadertech.ini cannot be found", and nobody deleted it. 2. When I access the Lenovo web page and go to Support and Downloads, the Detect My System option does not detect anything. I did register my machine v...

Clean install of XP in an X40

[quote="k0lo"]You can achieve boot times of 60 seconds with the X41T if you reinstall Windows. Glad to report again that, thanks to K0LO's advice and help, we were able to clean install an X40 this time, with the same gains in all round performance as experienced earlier with an X41T. However, there...

For future reference, here's the patch from Microsoft: Specifically, this cures the tabtip.exe from growing out of control, and taking all of your memory. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c4eebb54-14e3-408e-8c63-0a382e8d9239&displaylang=en Whenever I restart/shutdown the X41...

Following on my successful reinstallation of XP in the X41T, I have come to notice that in every restart/shutdown sequence I get a pop-up window titled "End Program - TabTip.exe". As part of the recommended post-reinstallation chores I installed update Q920295 (even though it said it was for US only...

X41T Healthy Maintenance for NON-SPECIALISTS

We, the humble and unassuming non-specialists of the desktop world are regularly over-assailed via the internet with topics such as: (i) the unquestionable merits of each of the 455 free and non-free antivirus packages; (ii) the abolute indispensability of the myriad registry cleaners, each designed...

You can achieve boot times of 60 seconds with the X41T if you reinstall Windows. http://www.gottabemobile.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=339 I am very glad to report that, by following K0LO's recipe, I, who know next to nothing about Windows XP as a system, was able to fix the problems in my daughte...
