Re: T450 add M.2 SSD and Dual Boot Win10/Linux?

Eventhough it seems you found your way to linux, let me just post another way of installing linux on your machine, especially if it's just to play and learn. With 16gb of ram, I would go the ...software way: Install Virtualbox, create a new virtual machine, dedicate around 4 to 8gb of ram and instal...

Re: x250 Screen freezes and restarts + Video

Thank you so much for your information. I can confirm the same problem! In my case it was just a total freeze. I had to play a video and start holding the laptop from the left side to see it freeze just like your case. However, I would add that it's not enough just to remove and re-install the memor...

Re: T440S sometimes won't boot unless i detach che internal battery

I have removed the internal battery permanently and replaced the external with a more recent model.

The problem persists. However it is less frequent than before. Also it is more easily resolved as it is easier to remove and reinstall just the external battery.

X220 - WiFi antenna issues

Ok, this will sound like another "the legend of thinkpads" story. My X220 fell of the roof of my car while driving at around 50mph (80km/h). I was lucky enough to see it flying behind me through the mirror of my car. When I picked it up, it had been struck severely on the right corner of the palmres...

Re: The definitive X301 SSD upgrade thread

Updating: I received a Crucial 120GB M500 6Gbps msata model: CT120M500SSD3 which I placed inside a DeLOCK converter for micro sata 16pin to mSATA full size. The converter is this one . The disk is this one Currently I am installing linux mint on a btrfs filesystem, watching carefully for suspicious ...

Re: The definitive X301 SSD upgrade thread

This is just to confirm that :
SAMSUNG MMCRE28G (1.8 SSD 128GB) is working ok in X301 model 2776C1G (under linux mint 3.13.0-24-generic 64bit).
X301 was bought from ebay without the HDD.
SAMSUNG was borrowed from a t410s.

Re: Is it worth upgrading my T61?

Definetely worth!

I would suggest :
- Get a better display! (1920 x 1200) You can place it yourself! (http://ych.me/?p=286)
- Go for the 8GB RAM!
- Clean it :-) (http://ych.me/?p=219)
- Put linux on it and start experimenting with raid1 and raid0 :-) (http://ych.me/?p=235)

Re: The definitive X301 SSD upgrade thread

I recently just got a very good condition x301. However it comes with only 64GB ssd. I wondering if any one try and success with installing a Crucial m4 265GB mSATA into the existing MiniPCI-e slot. That may involve getting a half size mini intel 5100 wifi card. that would be really interesting! Co...

Re: The definitive X301 SSD upgrade thread

I discovered this thread too late... I bought an X301 from ebay without an SSD. It was a laptop I always wanted to have and the price was really good. Now I ordered kingston SSD SVP180S2/64G which unfortunately has all the syptoms mentioned previously. All linux distros crash during copying files (m...

Re: How to fix fan error on X61

just FYI: In my case the fan error was caused by the little fan located under the center of the palmrest. Removing the dust didn't solve the problem. The fan had trouble rotating. When I powered on the X61, the little fan moved just a little and then stuck. After that I was getting immediately the f...

Re: T61 upgrade WXGA to WSXGA+ or WUXGA?

Thanks haritak for keeping me updated. I guess I'll move forward with my own upgrade plans. You can! I would suggest, go for the LG panel. Eventhough I am really happy with my samsung, the LG has a better reputation. In my case, I thought I had ordered an LG panel, but then I noticed the word "comp...

Re: T61 upgrade WXGA to WSXGA+ or WUXGA?

Ladies and gentlemen, I am happy to announce that the panel was received today. It's a samsung ltn154u2-l06 made in korea. Actually it's *exactly the same* as my old panel, apart from being 1920x1200 rather than 1680x1450. It was ordered from http://www.notebook-displaysdirekt.de/ which in fact is l...

Even though this is a rather old post, are there any news on the upgrade ?

That's what I have found recently:

I am waiting for my panel to arrive in order to try it.

Re: RAID on T61p

With RAID 10 or 0+1 (stripe+mirror), as I understand it, you need a min of 4 drives. To stripe you need a min of 2 drives, then double it for the mirror 2 drives (stripe) * 2 (the mirror) = 4 drives total So, I can't see how you are doing RAID 10 with only 2 drives. I recommend that you periodicall...

Re: RAID on T61p

My understanding is that the ultrabay drive cannot even use sata1, so I think you'd be better off using an ssd as primary, and perhaps a 1tb in ultrabay as a backup and for storage. Well, I hardly remember long time ago performing some performance tests and confirming that there is indeed a perform...

I looked at that site. There's an old expression "It's Greek to me!" Then I observed that you're in Greece. Anxious to hear how things work out. Hi all, I 'm thinking of moving from my T40p to the new T60p. One thing that holds me back is whether the build quality has been compromized. If you used to own a T4x and moved to T60 please respond! T40p battery life

Hi, all! After two years of using my T40p, battery life has dropped about 50% according to battery information of "Battery MaxiMiser Gauge". Now the strange thing is that battery drops to 1% in approximately two hours or less (in any case, it lasts more that one hour and a half) and then remains to ...
