If it is a lenovo branded card (has a FRU) and this code 10 problem occurs, it will not work in a non-Lenovo Motherboard. I already had this problem more than once.

Re: X62 problems, quirks, and fixes

The SMP option of memtest86+ seems to be buggy. If you have errors or freezes with it try again in non-SMP mode.

I got a second 8 GB RAM module today and ran memtest86+ in non-SMP mode for two passes with no errors. In SMP-mode it freezed at some point.

Re: [T61] Anyone done the Core2Quad upgrade?

You don't need RAM with an unlocked SPD if you fix the FSB to 800 MHz with the pin insulation method because the RAM will run at default settings. Makes everything a lot more simple ;) .

Re: [T61] Anyone done the Core2Quad upgrade? [picture warning]

The only problem that I have is that the notebook sometimes resets itself on very rare occasions. I never required a dual core chip to unlock something. Another problem that was discovered is that on units with the intel X3100 graphic the DVI output on docking stations does not work under windows be...

You have to ensure that BSEL1 stays on logic high level. But the X9100 would pull that signal down to logic low. The usual approach used was a small wire connection from the BSEL1 pin to a VCC pin. Re: Install a 1066MHz FSB CPU on T61 (including Core 2 Quad)

If the HDX does not hang when you use table loading with GRUB2 bootmanager, you do not necessarily need a modified BIOS. Before the chinese modified BIOS that contained the C2Q APIC table was available, I used this method to load the APIC table for C2Q (and a modified BIOS which was also of chinese ...

Attention, image links! Press ESC to enter BIOS, press "right" four times, "down" six times, "enter", "up" four times, "enter". This will restore defaults, save and reset. Additionally, you can also try to change "vga support" to "auto". http://abload.de/image.php?img=cimg2322egsm0.jpg http://abload...

It is a BIOS issue.

With coreboot, it works: https://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/199129

But I did not have the time yet to test or experiment with it further.

Re: Frankenpad Questions

I don't know if it was exactly this panel, but I did have an ID-Tech UXGA (from a T42) in a T61 Frankenpad and it worked without problems. The pinout in the datasheet for the N150U3-L06 is the same as that of the other panels used in the T60, so that panel should work too if it has an EDID chip with...

I bought the W701 from XStoneX and was able to fix it by replacing two blown fuses, as was suggested by RogerAndOut in this thread: F19 and F20. Was there a thread at 51nb.com for this BIOS? Maybe with different versions for dual core, different nvidia voltages and so on? If yes, can you post the link please?

Then I can download it myself and post it in the BIOS download table, so all BIOS files would be linked at one place.

Re: Install a 1066MHz FSB CPU on T61 (including Core 2 Quad)

In order to flash SPD for RAM do I need to run SPD tool under Windows?

I would need to find a HDD and install Windows on the machine.
AFAIK there is no other possibility.

If you have another laptop with DDR2 RAM you could try to flash the RAM in that machine.

Re: Install a 1066MHz FSB CPU on T61 (including Core 2 Quad)

No, you would need a hardware mod (not the one in this thread) to downclock the T9400 (force FSB 800 for a CPU that has a default FSB of 1066). The purpose of the hardware mod in this thread is to enable running those CPUs with FSB 1066 (e. g. the T9400) at their default clock.

No, but I did not search for one. I only use the pen anyway.
I think it'll be more attractive than a CPU upgrade.
But it will run longer on battery and stay cooler.

To make it absolutely clear what I meant: There has to be a cut in the trace at this spot, the cut previously done here has to be undone and the wire here is right. Alternatively to undo the unnecessary cut, pin 7...

Yes, you can use better CPUs with those BIOS like T9800 or P9500 but you will have to do all the required steps (for dualcore: 1 and 2, for quadcore: 1 - 5) in this post which involves modifying the mainboard.

Yes, as long as you choose a BIOS from this post (without the quadcore APIC in your case) and not the initial BIOS version by xiaofei290.
