Re: T420 2rd party wifi?
Perhaps try it with pin 20 taped? Though there's also possibility the second slot isn't wired with PCIe connection, which most wifi cards require, and most wwan cards do not.

Re: 1080p on T60
Hmm. You're maybe right, the choppiness I see may come from vsync, I do see the same problem on the desktop computer I'm using now, which has no problems with it and indeed VLC reports no drops. Edit: So I'm sorry, seems the problem is rather with the video somehow. It plays at 30fps (29.97), but it...

Re: Problems flashing bios
It should work, given that the burning software wasn't being clever and didn't alter it somehow. You should only see the dummy file, the actual BIOS update is a floppy disk image (the one from Lenovo with .FL1 replaced) located in CD "boot block" - that's one of possible ways to boot from a CD. It d...

Hello everyone, I have too had some trouble playing back some 1080p videos. Specifically, startrek-tlr2_h1080p.mov (second trailer for last Star Trek movie), at the beginning, the scene where camera flies from one side of car to the other. Most smooth playback I get using PowerDVD7 (not sure about l...

Does anyone know if and which WWAN card does Lenovo put in S10-3T? Device ID would be perfect.

Yes, the behaviour was changed to more user-friendly somewhere in early 5.x version. Now you only have to type in the password.

There shouldn't be a problem with the LED, as it's a standardised already. It's highly unlikely taping pin 20 will help in this matter. What is your card?

You can't replace a wifi card's ID with wwan card. You have to choose some of the wwan cards, preferrably the MC8775 from Lenovo to do this - that would be VEN_1199&DEV_6813.

Zhenek: You should look for the card under USB devices. Also VID/PID and VEN/DEV give the same numbers.

Re: SSD Discussion - Split from T410 First Impressions Thread
Just a little side note. Seek time on typical mechanical hard drive consists of two things, neither of which is negligible: 1) the need to move head "left-right" to the proper track 2) the need to wait for the track to rotate to the required position Even if you manage to have your data in nearby tr...

Re: X60 as NAS file server: slow transfer speeds over gig-e
There's definitely some limit to WinXP & SMB. The fastest transfer I've seen was between two decently configured desktop PCs (both running WinXP) was around 30MB/s. Normally it hovers around 20-25MB/s. The fastest transfer over gigabit network I've seen on my WinXP T60 was from my file server (runni...

Thanks.
I had to take the T410 BIOS down, as there seem to have been some changes (from Lenovo) and it does not work properly. Fortunately no brick, but still will take some time to analyze and possibly make a new patch.

Just want to add that I'm afraid it's not possible to boot Windows off this type of software RAID. Or at least it was not in XP.

Re: T400 (or T500) RAID?
I'm not sure how it's done in more recent versions of Windows, but provided that Microsoft didn't save that option only for Server versions, you should be able to (as I did on WinXP Pro) convert both drives to "dynamic" in Disk Management (where you can create/remove/format) partitions and then crea...

Re: need help updating bios x60
I believe there may be a problem with the burning itself. The second file, around 5500 kB in size, needs to be burned as a CD image - you burn this one file, and on the resulting CD, there will be many files (which you can perhaps see inside the 5500 kB file). If not, then something's been done wron...

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
AvalonXIII : I definitely do believe Lenovo as a whole has the means to do so, but my guess is that less than one machine of thousand "brick" warranty claims gets checked this way. And also that out of all the machines sold, much less than 0.1% gets a modified BIOS during its lifespan, so they don'...

Re: T6x BIOS device whitelist (error 1802/1804) [solved]
Actually, when we talk about modified BIOS, which someone has already tried, the risk of something going brick-wrong is the same as with official BIOS, and if it happens, my opinion is this: a) if it happens with modified BIOS, it would happen even with original BIOS, so it would be desirable for Le...

Any of these two, or any newer Sierra Wireless card. Actually F3507g supports (up to) 7.2/2.0Mbps speeds (depends also on network support), whereas MC8775 only 3.6/0.375Mbps (I think?). F3507g also has GPS, though your antennas in X61 might not be able to receive the signal. MC8780 and latter cards ...

Re: T60 wireless N
Quote of something I've written in PM: Actually, you can have the 802.11n card with only two antennas and still get 300Mbps speeds - the physical link speed tops as 150Mbps per radio, and each radio needs it's own antenna. It's definitely better to have three, and mounting generic flat one on the le...

Last generation (X200, T400 etc.) BIOS updates use different way of booting CDs, which means USB drives finally work. No USB optical drive will work with original updates from Lenovo for X60/X61 etc.

Re: T43 interesting bios problem
Unfortunately, these BIOS updates are last from the "floppy generation", and as such only use 1,44MB space, where they ingeniously didn't put command prompt and placed the flashing utility directly as command.exe. I have no idea where to get matching command prompt executable, so I couldn't make the...

@geckoSG: You need at least one antenna, you won't get any reception without it, unless stand right before your carrier's transmitter. Use one from the Wifi card, for testing.
