Re: T61p with Windows 10 and Intel Turbo Memory possible?

Thanks for the reply all, I removed the Turbo Memory from my mashine, and it started right up (would not boot with the driver installed on Windows 10).

Guess I cannot just replace with msata pci-e ssd? Or should I just go with standard 2.5" ssd?

T61p with Windows 10 and Intel Turbo Memory possible?

Just the other day I found a T61p at a good price (11 USD). Alredy came with Windows 10 installed, I did clean Windows 10 install and have several drivers not installing, one is the Intel Turbo Memory, I tried the Windows 7 driver, it installed fine, then reebooted and now it will not boot into Wind...

Re: Running 4K external monitor too much

Returned my 4K monitor today, just too much to handle for that little intel GPU. Instead I bought a used 24" ThinkVision monitor (LT2452P) with 1920x1200 resolution, great screen overall and 16:10 aspect ratio me like :). Now it does not feel so strange switching between my 5K iMac (16:10) and my T2...

Running 4K external monitor too much

Just got a 4K external monitor, connected from the ultra dock with display connector running 4K 60Hz. But the whole mashine just gets so slow, CPU and GPU just browsing and youtube gets pretty hot and fan rund often. Is 4K to much for the GPU/CPU should be able to run 3x 4k monitors, just one connec...

Re: Thinkpad 25 trackpoint caps where?

Yes the "Soft Dome" is not hard to find, uses the same as T470. But am thinking of the "Classic Dome" AKA "Cats Tongue". Two are supplied with the T25, though they are custom made, the standard ones from the old days are too high and will not fit (hitting the display when closed). Cannot find any pa...

Thinkpad 25 trackpoint caps where?

Since the Thinkpad 25 uses different trackpoint caps then other Thinkpads, thought I would just get some spare ones. Though I cannot find any specific for the Thinkpad 25 for sale, maybe anyone in here can help find them?

Re: T420 fan always on

Nice now TPFanControl starts minimized, thanks for the info :). Strange thing is my T410, the fan only runs when I use the CPU, it is completely silent when just idle or not doing much. Strange that the newer T420 with the 2nd gen intel I cpu always have the fan running, should it not run cooler? Ma...

Re: T420 fan always on

The CPU runs very cool, about 52C. Fan is always on, also in bios. Thinking the only solution is TPFanControl, also works fine, though would prefer if the app could open minimized, have to exit out the app/window every time I turn on my machine.

Could this be a hardware issue, or just not working proper with Windows 10?

T420 fan always on

My T420 i5 2.5Ghz always have the fan running, thought I just needed to clean the fan and apply new thermal compound, but after I did this, it runs about 20c cooler, but still the fan is on always. Have the latest bios and running Windows 10, and nothing running in the background that could cause th...

"Flimsy" indfrared cover...

The little transparent cover that hides the infrared eye is kind of flimsy, and ”rattles” when I touch it or carry the laptop, this is my second Z61m and the firs one did not have this ”problem”. Is there any way I can do a quick fix by my self, how can I get to this little infrared cover?

Don't think it is dual channel, nothing on this matter in Lenovo's website...Just wondered since it then would be best with exact the same kind of DIMMS, and then the Kingstons would maybe make the system a bit unstable... But nevermind, will go for the cheaper Kingston SODIMMS, can't wait to get so...

Ok, thanks both, I will then save the money, and probely go for some Kingston SODIMMS, the cost is less than half of the Lenovo.

Now I am goiun to ask a stupid question, but just to be sure, the Z61m dosn't run dual channel memory setup when using the two memory slots, right???

Lenovo or Kingston, Corsair SODIMM

Is it reallt worth paying doubble price for Lenovo SODIMMS, I can get a Kingston Value PC-5300, 1024MB DDR2, for about half the price of the same kind of SODIMMS but Lenovo branded. What to go for, isn't it Samsung chips they both uses???

Hitachi's 7K100 is somewhat faster than the 7200.1, but has a three-year warranty rather than a five-year one, so if you are planning to use the drive for longer than three years, that would be a Seagate advantage. Now, the announced-but-not-yet-shipping 7200.2 is about the same speed as the 7K100,...

Getting a 7200rpm is a better choice, My Z61p came with seagate 7200rpm 100 GB. Upgrade from 5400RPM to 7200RPM harddrive?

Just got my Z61m, and it got a Toshibe MK1234GSX, 120GB, 5400RPM harddrive. Would I win some speed opgrading to a 100GB, 7200RPM Hitachi harddrive, is it worth the money? And is the Toshiba harddrive fast of a 5400RPM to be (it is quite, thats for sure).

I am a little confused, I am now thinking about getting a IBM laptop, I have decided between either Z61m or Z61p, but the new "Titanium" (silver) lid got me confused, is it really Titanium or is it just coloured like Titanium, and will it say the black lid is made of plastic?
