Is anyone running 1TB 2.5" 5400rpm as main hdd? Performance?

I'm considering replacing my Hitachi 320GB 7200rpm for a WD 1TB 5400rpm (link). Will Windows 7 32bit run slower on this 5400rpm than my current 7200rpm?

T60 - the best Thinkpad ever made?

Is there any worthy replacement alternatives for the T60 these days? Or is it all downhill when T60 owners choose to upgrade?

EDIT:
Typo corrected.

Is my T60 keyboard dying? (Temporary) solution inside :)

My keyboard key "T" was not responding as well as the other keys, and I needed to apply centered perpendicular force in order to make it respond. My initial thought was "the keyboard is filthy", so I removed all the keys and cleaned the keyboard surface to my best know how. However, this did not sol...

Re: Fan question: 41V9932 vs. 41W6407 on a T60 2007-FUG?

Thanks guys! Nice to get a confirmation that the fan is under-dimensioned. I will continue to use the "41V9932", since I rarely reach the extreme system loads where the under-dimension becomes apparent. FYI: The reason why I got a "41V9932" was because the eBay seller was including both part numbers...

Fan question: 41V9932 vs. 41W6407 on a T60 2007-FUG?

The official fan for T60 2007-FUG is "41W6407", but due to "complications on eBay" (hehe) I was shipped a "41V9932". The difference between "41V9932" and "41W6407" are emphasized here: [ http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/4723/41v9932vs41w6407.png ] It can be seen that the CPU heatpipe in "41W6407" ...

Re: T60 CPU running Temperatures?

That's too hot (in my opinion). Open your task manager and monitor the CPU usage during normal operation. A normal T60, without external cooling pad, will hover around 60 degrees with normal usage (web browsing/office applications) and ~80 degrees under heavy (>85%) CPU load. It sounds to me that yo...

A _good_ Gmail notifier for windows 7?

There are a lot of third party notifiers out there, but their functionality and interface are not really appealing. My ideal Gmail notifier would be a Windows version of CheckGmail (designed for *NIX) - http://techcityinc.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/gmailnotifier.png What kind of Gmail notifier d...

T60: Connect Iphone to Ad-hoc with WPA2 on Win 7?

Hi, Have you guys with Intel Wifi 3945ABG cards and Windows 7 created a WPA2 protected ad-hoc network which successfully works with the Iphone? These are my favorite monitor gadgets for Windows 7 and Vista: http://addgadget.com/ . They're desktop gadgets however; not system tray icons. Very nice, indeed. To whom it might concern: My harsh Aero critics above was based on a Windows 7 experience without the proper sets of drivers (I'm embarrassed to say it.) I'm running Windows 7 x86 on my T60 (2007-FUG).
The X1400 display driver was acquired automatically through windows update and works flawless.

Windows 7 with Aero runs really well on this machine ^^

Or maybe even Windows 9 if 7 only (like Vista) lasts for about 2 years!! :D By that time, you'll need 1TB RAM to run x86 version!!! hehe, true. The hardware requirements doesn't bother me though, but inconsistency in the GUI bothers me a lot :D Mac OS X's GUI is consistent, Ubuntu's GUI...

Re: Are you hesitant of upgrading to from XP to Windows 7? Why?

With a bit on tailoring you can get Windows 7 to look pretty much like the old classic. If you read this thread, http://thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=82054 , you'll see my dislikes about the Windows 7 classic theme. I will eventually have to upgrade from XP, but at the current moment in ...

Are you hesitant of upgrading to from XP to Windows 7? Why?

My primary reason for disliking Windows 7, is the graphical user interface. How about you?

I think I will be using Windows XP, with the classic theme without cleartype, till Microsoft quits supporting it :)

You are correct. Hence the reason for creating this thread.

The Windows classic GUI satisfies more "good design" criteria than Aero.

Re: How to Make Windows 7 Look Like Windows XP Classic?

Just give Aero a chance before you go all retro. It's a known fact that Microsoft's Achilles heal is design. They are struggling to create GUI which is appealing to the masses. I can't understand how it's possible, in 2009 and with years of customers feedback, to create a GUI like Aero. I personall...
