Re: Cleaning/rinsing a T60 keyboard

Hi guys, thanks alot for the advice!

Sadly, we don't have Ethanol on tap here in Denmark, but I might have a bottle of isopropyl around. I think I will give it a shot (no pun intended)!

Cleaning/rinsing a T60 keyboard

Hi, The other night my T60 drank half a glass of red wine - I made sure to unplug it, shut it down and remove the battery. Luckily, most of the liquids were drained through the keyboard so the rest of the hardware was unharmed. Efter letting the T60 dry, I assembled it. Everything works fine except ...

Making a clean vista install from the preload

Hi, I've had thinkpads since I started using laptops (with XP), and have always extracted the XP installation files (from i386 directory) from the preload and made an XP OEM install disc - then installing from scratch and picking the Thinkvantage applications suited for my needs. A buddy of mine jus...

Good pictures!

Sorry for OT:
How is OS X running on the T60? Is it a hazzle to install? Looked it up some time ago, but it seemed there were lots of problems with drivers and just getting the whole featureset of the T60 working in general.

Wow, you must crash all the time then. Mine's currently at 8,55. Are you using 64 bit or 32 bit? I have 64 bit and running it on a laptop. I never saw an 8.55 number. It started as 6.5 immediately after the first install. Actually some days it will go all day without a crash. Thats much better than...

Reliability monitor & Performance Index 4.3 Thats pretty good. Mine was back up to 3.86 from a low of 1.07. Yesterday it fell again to 2.34 after several Explorer crashes when I tried to access User\<mine>\Roaming\ The updates of Aug 7 and one since too have made quite an improvement. Wow, you must...

I'm happy with Vista and will not be buying into XP again. I run Vista Ultimate on the T60 and XP Pro on the desktop. The Explorer has definitely been improved. I like that they've increased the colour contrast of bars and other importaint stuff. I like the way they have built the controlpanel, espe...

Wow. 5.000$ for an X60s in a leather casing. Sure, the 24/7 warranty on-site thing is great, but come on! For that kind of cash, I would rather buy a brand new X60s (in case of breakdown) and swap the harddrives in the time it would take Lenovo technicians to fly out anyways. And still, it would be ...

I agree with pretty much all the way.

I find the right palmrest quite annoying. A form of heat isolating material just under that specific piece of plastic would be great, along with a build that allows airflow over the HDD.

Not exactly a valid point.

Yes, they've changed the locations of several features - but it's for the better. How can they ever change and improve something if people start complaining about it not being where it used to?

I wouldnt call Macbooks crap, those are nice, but in truth, the iPod has nothing on other players but style. There are other players that are cheaper and have more memory, use more formats, have line in, an fm receiver, mic recording...but the iPod sells more anyway to the crazy apple fanboys. The ...

Intel storage matrix driver and VISTA

Hi, I've just installed Vista Ultimate x32-bit on my T60. I'm not sure wether it's necessary to install the storage matrix driver or not. In BIOS, it's set to AHPI. According to the readme that came with the driver download, I should pre-install the drivers during installation with a floppy. Since I...

Got my ol' desktop up and running. Currently using it to convert my DVDs into H.264 encoded MP4's. H.264 Looks amazing and saves space in the media centre. I still use the Thinkpad as my main computer. However, photoshop work is now done on the desktop. The screen is much better. http://img266.image...
