WTB Battery for X61 Tablet, LCD for X200
Looking to replace a dead X61 Tablet battery. Doesn't need to hold the best charge, just needs to be "Green" condition. The FRUs are 93P5032 93P5031 42T5259 according to hardware manual. Also looking for an replacement LCD for X200 non-tablet. I think it is CCFL backlit WXGA. Maybe you've replaced y...

On my (older) X200 I can only feel flex just above the express card slot and a little where the thinkpad logo is. None elsewhere on the palm rest.

Magnetic USB Port
I discovered this accidentally about my X200. The USB Port between the heat exhaust and the VGA port is magnetized. It is strong enough to hold a USB flash drive by the corner of its metal USB plug. Is this a "feature" or is the port being magnetized by, say, the fan? http://a.imageshack.us/img821/5...

Re: X300 running hot under Windows 7 X64
If you are running the "Aero" theme in Windows 7 you will find that 1-10% of your CPU will be used for a "dwm.exe". This is called desktop window manager. If this small but constant CPU use is causing high temps you should definitely try cleaning out the system. In the mean time try using "Baisc" th...

Re: x200 or x201
Consider the X201s for its better CPU.
Other than that, X200 can be equipped with an AFFS LCD screen if you are not afraid of taking apart the machine.

Re: Installing windows 7 on a x200 w/o external optical drive.
Here are the steps: 1. Use a program like IMGBURN to create an ISO of your windows disc. If you already have it in ISO format even better. 2. Download USB DVD Tool 3. Install the program. You need a USB flash drive that is 4GB in size at least. The program will format and make the drive into a boota...

Nope, you don't have EFI. Therefore no need to get the recovery discs from a current gen Thinkpad.

Re: Lenovo Recovery media or RTM - what's the difference?
I think there is some confusion about what Lenovo's EE actually is. It has little to do with the recovery media and more to do with the implementation of Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). Thinkpads produced later in 2009 that were equipped with Windows 7 have EFI whereas older models have BIOS.

Re: x301 replacement
What I meant was that there exists a 13.3" AFFS screen, the HV133WX1, that Lenovo could easily equip the next iteration of the X300 with. I am not sure if it could be installed into an X301. No one has had the opportunity to check I think.

Wow I had no idea the expresscard slot could be used with an SSD. Is it really advantageous tho? Would SATA command queueing be missed?
Which SSD are you using?
As for the SD slot I believe it is connected to the USB bus. Therefore any SD card is limited to the bandwidth of USB 2.0

There is a possibility that at lower FSB the DDR 1333 RAM will have lower latency than the 1066 modules however it will not produce a noticeable performance boost... Just find the best quality RAM at the cheapest price and you'll be laughing.

Also the quality feels like crap compared to my T42.. make sure you open the screen from the center not a corner, it flexes like crazy! I don't expect this laptop to last 6 years at my T42 has (I could sell it as "like new condition" now). The X200 has a metal lid (and bottom) that is quite rigid. ...

I wasn't able to tell from this thread, but is a HV121WX4-110 a direct drop-in as well? I know the 110 and 100 are glossy. There are lots of 100s and 110s up on ebay (though no 120s)... are these directly compatible and a drop-in, like the 120? http://cgi.ebay.com/BOEHYDIS-HV121WX4-110-Touch-Screen...

I remember reading on a Taiwanese forum that someone successfully installed the screen with the digitizer still on the back. Can't find that page right now, so I may be wrong. But since it's only held by tape, you should be able to remove it easily. By digitizer are you referring to the WACOM chip ...

Touch screen surface circuits can be resistive or capacitive. The screen in your tablet is capacitive.

T410/510 high pitch noises and buzzing sounds?
I have owned four thinkpads. Two T61s, an X31, and currently an X200. Just wondering, for those who have purchased the new thinkpads ...
