That protrusion is an eyesore and I would pay extra for it not to be there.

Leaving the antenna is not an option. I don't want it there. Will either remove it or return. Removing seems very difficult. I can't even figure out how to remove the screw caps. Tiny flat head screwdriver doesn't work, razor blade doesn't work. Guess you need some sort of specialized tool.

My new T60p has WWAN antenna, can I remove/return?

I ordered T60p 14.1" 4:3 from Lenovo education portal over the weekend with following configuration and there was no option for the WWAN so I didn't think it would have the silly antenna on side. I received custom order today from Hong Kong and it has the WWAN antenna on the right side of screen! I ...

I'm not aware of a 10k rpm 2.5" HDD. Removing the HDD takes a few seconds longer than removing a USB device. The installation of the OS and drivers will take considerably longer. If you want speed, longer battery life, silence (no noise), superior data integrety, and less heat, then go with a SSD. D...

They have online ordering, so need to speak to anyone. :) You lost me here. Is there a link you were intending to provide me with? And if your source has a shopping cart system then why must I speek to someone? Do you find a Japanese website selling the 2.5" Mtron in 16GB or 32GB size? If so, pleas...

Why wasn't the Samsung SDD compatible with your Thinkpad? I'm assuming it was the wrong interface? For my T60p it would utilize SATA so I'm considering a 32GB Mtron: http://www.king-cart.com/cgi-bin/cart.cgi?store=dvnation&product_name=32GB+SATA+100MB/s+SSD&exact_match=exact However, these are selli...

Where can I order a 64GB MTRON SSD? I can't seem to find any resellers on the net. Which SDD did you go with and what as your cost? Have you used one already and if so how was the speed increase?

The question is, if I have a serial number, is the laptop on its way or is it the extra stick of ram that I ordered? The weight suggests laptop and memory stick. I can't see your tracking information but you said that the weight suggests both. Not sure how you can determine that your package has bo...

The way Lenovo's blog reads the T61's cooling/vents/fan were heavily redesigned, which leads me to believe that it will be radically different from the T60's design. If they turn out to be the exact same form factor then fantastic. Let us know how it goes please.

Surely freddy418 is expecting you to use a penny produced between 1793 to 1837 since it would have been pure copper, and then trim both surfaces with a grinder to be perfectly smooth/flat. Let’s not forget that since large cents were rather large, you'd also have to trim the sides to get this old pe...

Of course it's possible, nearly anything is possible, but I bet it wouldn't be easy. Just like you can upgrade the GPU of your laptop's motherboard, it's possible, but far from easy. :D Good luck!

I'd definitely go with the T61 with the nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M GPU, that should last you the longest from what's currently available. Doesn't sound like you or your younger son will need a CAD GPU, so skip the T61p unless you have money and time to blow. I'd go with the lowest memory config, say 512...

winslow is not shopping for a laptop for his son, he's already giving him his current one so I don't think he's shopping for a 2nd laptop for his son. He wants a replacement for himself. At least that's what I gathered from reading the original post.

Unfortuantely, your configuration of a T60p w/ 14.1" SXGA+ screen is no longer available from the Lenovo website. If you can handle the extra ounces of weight and want a flexview screen, go with the 15.0" T60p.

So the older T42 had instructions to remove the plastic layer from the thermal pad but the T60 did not. I think removing the protective covering from the adhesive thermal pad should be a given by now. When adding oil to your car do some people actually need instructions on the container to remove th...

Ok, I just got a call from the guy in Lenovo. He claimed that they left the plastic layer on because that's how they assemble the machine (according to their "assembling code"), and he also claimed that all T60 will have this plastic layer between the GPU and thermal compound. He did say that I can...

The last Lenovo sales rep told me over the phone that there would definitely not be a standard sized T61 or T61p released. Of course I hope he's wrong, but even if it is available for order in mid June that probably means no one will actually receive theirs until September. Not sure if I could wait ...
