Oracle Linux is just a repackaged Redhat Enterprise Linux. Starting with RHEL 6, a PAE-enabled processor is a minimum requirement. It seems like you have to recompile or use a Fedora kernel.mike004 wrote:I'm using Oracle Linux.

Re: T42 won't boot with 2.6.32 Linux PAE kernel
There is no command line option to disable PAE as far as I know. Which distribution are you using? I thought all of them have a PAE and a non-PAE kernel to choose from (Fedora certainly has). Of course you can always compile your kernel, but on your CPU its probably faster to get a pre-built one

Re: ATI Radeon X300, ThinkPad T43, and Linux
Anyone have luck getting the proprietary ATI driver to work on Linux with a Radeon X300 in a modern distro? The proprietary driver dropped X300 support ages ago. You'll have to install an antique kernel and Xorg if you want to use it. I'm pretty sure that the resulting user experience will be far i...

I'll beg to differ: Only switch on "Unknown sources" if you want to install apk files that you download elsewhere. If you only want to use apps from the Android Market then leave unknown sources = off. Every app runs under a separate user account. Apart from competing for CPU time and RAM, they do n...

Let me state the obvious first, did you install a 3G card? Your model is WiFi-only but can probably be upgraded (hence the SIM card slot).IbKJM wrote:Hi,

I think that Japan is also CDMA. However the EU GSM still should work on most American networks. 3 G not 4 but good enough if you need the connection. Actually, Japan is perhaps the only place that is more screwed up than the US carrier market - most carriers use a homebrew 2G tech that isn't used ...

Buy a pad in Europe. I bought mine in Germany and it came 3G ready - even had a Vodaphone SIM in it. I should work in USA too on ATT 3G. The European version is GSM only, the US version will be GSM/CDMA so it'll work with Verizon and with Iraq's cell phone network (the only two places on earth usin...

Re: Thinkpad Slate Tablet markup compared to X200 tablet?
I have a X200 and am considering getting the Thinkpad Slate Tablet, but the main functionality I need is the continued ability to "write/markup" on my PPTs during presentations (and save them into the PPT). Something I can currently do on my X200 since it is running Win 7. It is unclear to me if th...

The 170W adapter for the W520 only fits into the W520, but the 60W/90W thinkpad ac adapters fit into the W520.
Any ac adapter with <=90W can only be used to change the W520 while it is off/hibernated/standby.

Intel has by far the best driver support. They are actively developing linux wifi drivers. Will work out of the box as long as your hardware is older than the linux distribution you are using. Broadcom is the worst, avoid at all cost. Atheros only relatively recently started to release open-source d...

You need touch input and good ARM support if you want a tablet, and Windows can do neither. If you want a hard-to-use UMPC with a kludgy pen to simulate mouse clicks you could have bought one years ago ;-P In fact, there is no OS out there at all that provides both excellent tablet and desktop usabi...
