Re: FS: T61 14.1 4:3, Penryn CPU!
I am very interested. Do you know what it would take to convert this to SXGA? Would it just be a screen swap or would I need a new motherboard?

What should I do with my X31?
I bought an X31 because it was real cheap. It's a 2673-CTO. I bought it a while ago and wasn't sure what to do with it? Is it worth holding on to and maybe doing a few upgrades? Which upgrades would you do? What OS would you run? Was thinking about making it a Linux project.

Re: XP Driver Install Order
I just thought I had read somewhere about people being [censored] off because System Update was no longer being supported, and they were going to have to keep their drivers up to date individually.

XP Driver Install Order
Is there a particular install order that should be followed for the Lenovo drivers on a T60 (2623-D8U)? I've got Windows XP SP3 installed, then I did all the critical updates through Windows Update. Then, I installed the LAN driver, then the Intel Chipset, then the Wireless driver, restarting betwee...

Re: Total upgrade of a T60
Oooo. This sounds fun.
How simple is the swap of one for the other?
Edit:
Some good information here and here:

Re: Replacement LCD & Preventing Screen Scratches
TuuS, Both those things sound excellent. I think I would go for the SXGA as that's what I currently have and I love the screen real estate, and also the contact marks are much less annoying since you usually can't see them when the screen in on. And the hinges would be great too. Let me know the det...

Re: Replacement LCD & Preventing Screen Scratches
Awesome, very helpful replies. I will check out the marketplace here. So there's no suppliers of screens in particular that are known to reputable or supplying good quality products (NoS or what have you)? The scratches on my screen are not so bad to where I would deal with them, but the light and d...

Replacement LCD & Preventing Screen Scratches
I dunno if anyone else has this happen to them, but I've had it happen on multiple T60s, so I'm thinking it's gotta be a frequent issue. The Trackpoint--both the red stick and the mouse buttons associated with it, particularly the middle button with it's row of bumps--seems to have causes scratches ...

Thanks for the suggestion. That looks nice. I kinda decided that you're right about the ventilation. It's gunna be too hard to find a case that allows airflow and access to power and usb ports. I think I just need something thin that I can put in my backpack to keep the nice sparkley finish from get...

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it still didn't answer my question. My hard drive does not have the G designation so I'm assuming it does not have the built in shock protection. Here is the relevant info on my drive: Seagate Momentus 5400 FDE.2 ST9160824AS - Hard drive - 160 GB - internal - 2.5"...

Thinkwiki has this to say about it: HD-APS requires a hard-disk with head unload ramp technology and also support on the hard-disk firmware to unload heads without flushing the disk cache. This is required, because as soon as the APS system detects a shock is imminent, the system has less than 500ms...

Momentus Hard Drives work with APS?
Will the Momentus 5400 FDE.2 Hard Drives work with the Active Protection System? Edit: Information I have found that relates to, but does not answer my question: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Active_Protection_System (The harddisk support section is what made me ask this question in the first place)...

Thin cases (neoprene?) that fit 14" /w extended battery
I'm looking for a case for my 14" T60 so the finish doesn't get scuffed up when it's in my backpack anymore. Ideally, I would like something that could stay on when it is in use, but I think it's going to be hard enough to find one that fits over my extended battery anyway. If it was going to stay o...

All is well. The first time I tried it, it didn't work because I only added the LOGO.MOD file to the image. The second time, I added the entire contents of the extracted folder (after running the LOGO.BIN and producing LOGO.MOD and LOGO.LOG). I wasn't sure which other files were modified by running ...

Ok. I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was trying to convert an image that had less than 16 colors. I'm now fairly certain that what was meant by 10KB limit was the limit on the LOGO.MOD file that is created after running LOGO.BAT with LOGO.BMP in the directory. So I did this by copying the iso...

Changing the BIOS Splash Screen
I'm trying to change the BIOS splash screen on my T60. I found the bootable cd iso here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-63027 The (very confusing) instructions included on the CD read as follows: *******************************************************************...

Connecting the sparsely ported T60 to a TV
I would like to be able to connect my T60 to my television for a number of reasons, but I haven't been able to track down a decent way of doing it yet. The problem seems to be the limited number of ports available. S-video or firewire would probably each make it quite easy. But all I've got to work ...
