Good to be back!!!

It has been a while. Long time no see. Wow!! time flies. Life catches up to you and I have been so busy for a long time. I am glad to be back. I am still using the T500 that I bought from underclocker. I don' know if he is still around the forum. I hope he is. This is perhaps one of the most support...

Re: another MBA killer...but this time...

The day I will buy a mac or any other brand whether they are mac killer or not, is when they can come up with track point that is as good as thinkpads. No matter what anyone says,a trackpad will never beat trackpoint when it comes to precision, speed, ease of use. Honestly trackpoint is probably 60-...

free webdesign software

Hello everyone, Hope someone can help me. Does anyone know of a good, easy to use web design software? Something like Frontpage where you don't have to know the HTML code and just make it converts to a webpage? The webpage needs to be able to the following. 1. With one large frame next to it and sma...

Re: End of ERA - a SUPER HUMAN - a Great MAN

He was a visionary but not an inventor to the level of Edison by any means. Like I stated earlier, he was able to repackage already existing hardware into a pretty designed package. Then use his marketing genius to entice his followers or new converters to buy the company's product. Apple has been a...

Re: End of ERA - a SUPER HUMAN - a Great MAN

There is not going be anyone who denies that Steve Jobs has changed the way we live and how we implement technology in our daily lives. The fact that he left us at such young age by a disease that we all dread makes his story even more compelling. However, to compare Steve Jobs to Thomas Edison and ...

Re: Wireless access hardware

Ozzymud, Thanks for the excellent description. I suppose that would be the best way of doing it. Energy efficient and reliable with firewall. I was hoping that there would be a device that has #1 and #2 all built in one device. I guess I can use a duct tape to make them into a single device. LOL. So...

Wireless access hardware

Re: $299 Special On Z61T Today Only

@Pizza: I don't think RealBlackStuff was saying that it's a bad deal. He wanted to let everyone know about the hardware limitation of RAM. I would have certainly thought that it would be able to support >3GB RAM since it is a Z6"1" to later find out that I can't upgrade. It is a good deal and a nice...

Re: Problem 1600x1200 for external monitor

So I just tried all of above recommendations

Installing monitor driver
Turning on and off the monitor

Keep getting "Not optimum mode. Recommended mode 1600 x 1200 60Hz"
which is what i have set at.

Any ideas?

Re: Install Secondary Fan under Palm rest(Has any one done it)

First reduce the wlan signal strength, this should reduce heat, too. Device Manager > Network Adapter > WLAN-Module ("Intel ...") > Advanced > last element in the list > "1. very low" This did reduce the heat on my X61's right palmrest significantly. Now the right and left warmth is about the same....

Phil,

Thank for the tip. I have not tried to play around with refresh rate. It should be something worth trying.

And yes I am trying to use the external monitor as an extended desktop OR as the primary monitor depending on the work that I need to do.

Hi lead_org, Thanks for the info. I spend time reading few reviews and it looks like same conclusions can be drawn as you have mentioned. I guess it is true that you get what you pay for. I will have to stick to T-series... they have proven themselves over decades so no doubt on their build quality....

Laptopaid has a 30 day warranty. http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-ThinkPad-R52-15-MotherBoard-39T5678-Type-1849-4WU-/280590042338?pt=Motherboards&hash=item41547844e2 Thanks Harry. I would ...

Re: WTB: T42 motherboard OR FS: T42 with issues

Yeah the old PC2700 is worth much more than the new PC2-5300, so the new RAM and possibly CPU might be paid for by selling the old RAM. Last I checked on EBay, a 1GB stick of PC2700 was @ $40 shipped. yeah I figured it would go for that much. I guess it will go to a good new home to a new owner who...

I may have a potential buyer already.. fast!

Re: WTB: T42 motherboard OR FS: T42 with issues

Thanks for the suggestion. But that would mean having to get new RAMs that will add cost. Also I don't know if it is simple straight swap without having to get new cables etc. Why not pop in a R52 board with Intel graphics? I did this and it works great on a T42 with SXGA, and the biggest advantage:...

SOLD!! X24... broken hinge. $50 + $13.95 S/H

Sold to a Forum Member This is X24 that I have had for about 4 years. The hinge is broken and the screen does not stay upright. I think there is a crack in the LCD bezel and upper bezel as well. Electronically it is working flawlessly (Motherboard, LCD, hard drive, keyboard etc). I would be a great ...
