Re: Broken capacitor-looking thing on a 770 DC/DC board...

RealBlackStuff made a better recommendation than I did so go with what he said. Schottky diodes can tend to have a larger forward voltage drop when rated for higher reverse voltage. So it is best to match the reverse voltage rating and not go way above it. In this case 40 volts is what you want. Asi...

It's a diode and K is the cathode end. Surface mounted components have a two or three digit code for identification because there isn't room to print more on the part body. Unfortunately the few characters that fit end up not being unique. The first entry in the table at https://www.s-manuals.com/sm...

All seven model number characters are needed to look up the original configuration. The link at the top of the forum page labeled MTM has the configuration data. I recently finished installing Win98SE on my T23 using your guide. Thank you for posting it as I would not have succeeded without your guide. The following is a list of things that I had to adjust to get it working. Step 6 seemed to run but didn't save the extracted files that I could find. The swit...

23. For the modem driver, run tpmd19gx.exe

I do not find tpmd19gx. tpmd1g9x is in the list though. Is that the file you intended to call out?

To follow up on the SP4 rollup containing POS updates, I never could get it to install without corrupting the XP installation. Some of the POS updates require the SSE2 instruction set which leaves the T23 out since it is Pentium 3. Still, working with the A31 Pentium 4, the rollup just didn't work f...

Re: No Windows Update for Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/2000

I have done a bit more with WSUS and found that my troubles were a combination of unfamiliarity with WSUS and a bug in the routine. MKISOFS.EXE is used by WSUS to create an ISO. It is not part of the program and must be downloaded. The download fails even though the link in WSUS appears to be correc...

WSUS looked promising so I gave it a try. The computer was a Thinkpad A31 with a wiped hard drive. Windows XP SP3 was clean installed and three drivers updated to produce a clean Device Manager display. Then WSUS 9.2.1 was started and I requested it to produce an ISO upon completion. Throughout the ...

I did check it, the thing does supply DC so it's probably the sensing/configuration resistor.
Did you measure the resistance from the sense pin to ground? I don't have a 135W power supply but my 170W supply measures 1900 Ohms from the sense pin to ground.

There have been several threads about this on the forum over the years. This one is quite good: viewtopic.php?p=218045#p218045

Re: T43 Unknown Device :(

Many many versions of Power Manager have been released over the years. Some releases fail to install or fail to function on some Thinkpads. The older the Thinkpad, the more likely there will be issues. For the T43, it is so old that the docs are not maintained or checked for accuracy. Finally Lenovo...

Re: T43 Unknown Device :(

I installed XP on my T43 this past summer. This was from recovery disks, not a retail or oem XP disk. There are no unknown devices in device manager but I did do some manual driver updates. Lenovo's advice on their power manager driver version is not helpful for the T43. The latest XP power manager ...
