I just bought one, but I seem to have some issues, does it have to have to use the power cable? It seems my bluetooth adapter and my card reader need the power adapter to be able to use them, if not it doesnt seem to work edit: Well it seems when I use my virtualbox, and have a usb device plugged in...

what about setting up the cpu frequency to manual, Ive found by setting it to the lowest speed helps with temps

hotter yes, but i only used my 1.13 for a week before i got a good deal on a few pIII cpu's that it had a 1.2 in the pack, and now I seemed to have misplaced my 1.13 I was going to put in another pIII laptop i acquired for free, instead that one has a 800mhz p3 instead of the celeron...under normal ...

the extra usb hubs on those cooling pads, are they safe? I remember my friend messed up his usb ports on his laptop after connecting devices on the pad part

what wireless card did you put in? Rosh (r2d2) and I have found having weird locking up issues with internal wireless cards on the r31 on a previous thread

your bios is set for max battery also?

I wonder if I did something similar to my battery on my r31, about 6 months old and let it drain down a few weeks ago, now my battery wont charge past a certain percentage. ended up draining by battery really fast b/c i forgot to change my bios settings for my cdrom and it was running at full speed/

I do notice it gets hot, but it doesnt explain why with an atheros I can surf all day and not have locking up issues, maybe if there is a way to tell if the intel runs hotter than the atheros. I tried it with the cover open but it didnt make a difference

it should work, I have an ar5212 and no problems. I think the thinkpads that didnt come with any internal wireless dont have the bios lock, as an HP broadcom worked on my r31.

thats the issue I've had with both the 2200bg and 2915abg, I've tried messing with the IRQ settings, and taking less components off and it just still froze, it was very unpredictable. I've put an atheros wifi on it and on linux havent had any issues, I havent had a chance to try it on windows yet.

I have them mounted inside the lid but my antennas arent long enough so its more in the middle of the lid corner sides

not sure if the r30 will have the same issue, but I get really lower signal compared to a pcmcia card with internal wifi on my r31, enough to see my home network, but cant see anything past my house unlike my pcmcia

my atheros seems to work well on my r31, but on windows for some reason it liked to lock up and freeze, just in linux it works better
