Re: Complete Wipe of x61

well its pretty obvious that when do a clean installation of any operating system, its going to be pretty fast!! but as you load programs and data onto it, its going to get slower and slower thats why you need to restrict strictly to the programs that you will be using day to day only and also if y...

Complete Wipe of x61

This might seem like a basic question but I wanted an opinion on this nonetheless. I am thinking of completely removing all my programs and starting from scratch using the ThinkVantage option to do so. I'm wondering if by doing so it will return my computer to the same fast speeds and boot times tha...

Super Hot x61t

Hello - The title does not refer to my type of computer or the women that continue to walk into the coffe shop I am sitting in (although that is nice). I'm referring of course to the heat generated from the vrey bottom of my x61t which has the fan running constantly and his VERY hot to touch. So hot...

Battery life a deal killer

I am SOOOO tempted to pick one of these up BUT from what I have read on almost all the major review sites (CNET, LAPTOP, AMAZON, Consumer Reports, etc) is that the battery is TERRIBLE. I understand it is only a 3 cell, but honestly, the idea behind the netbook for most is the ability to have an ultr...

Trackpoint for x61t rendered useless

Hello Everyone - I just downloaded updates recommended from Lenovo and the only one that I did was the BIOS update. However, after doing so, for whatever reason, my Trackpoint no longer works. I've tried to find the driver issue if there is one and cannot. Does anyone know how I might resolve this i...

Does anyone have the x200 with Blu Ray?

I am seriously considering upgrading from my x61t to a x200t as it appears the Elite version comes with a Blu Ray drive. My question is for those that have that option. How is the performance of your x200 thus far and the performance with the SSD? I'm not sure if it's worth the change over for me, b...

Bluetooth Function issues

I guess this question would be for anyone that uses Bluetooth on a regular basis. I have the Jawbone 2 headset and paired it successfully with my x61t. However, for some reason, I cannot hear any sound into the device but hear it clearly on the laptop. Since I am looking at more video these days on ...

External Monitor issues

I recently hooked up a HPw1907 display to my docking station. I ran all the software and it worked fine. However, recently, when hooking up my x61T to the station, the resolution to the screen does not auto adjust any longer to the 1440 or TOP resolution and all the images look distorted and FAT. I ...

WOW...Left Palmrest burning hand

I have to use an AT&T removeable wireless card at points when there is no connectivity at certain spots. Right now, as I am typing this, by left hand feels like it's been running the iron man triathalon, sweating profusely as the heat continues to build and build where the wireless card is inserted....

I believe most of them will goto sub-directories of \Program Files\, whereas the path is configurable via the %ProgramFiles% environment variable. Some of the files will goto \Windows\, for example some of the DLL will reside in \Windows\System32. This path is configurable via the %systemroot% vari...

Can someone explain to me WHERE these updates are installed to once you select them to be installed? It does not allow you to install them to areas that you choose, and I have spent more time trying to find WHERE they've be placed that I've gotten fed up trying to find them. It does not even tell yo...

Why does my Thinkvantage button not work?

I've noticed this lately that when I press the Blue Thinkvantage button nothing at all happens. I have a x61T and use XP Professional. Some of the other buttons that are non-responsive include my volume keys, mute key as well, and dimming keys...they actually DO work in terms of performing but do no...

Yes, the speakers will run off the ultrabase; from the specifications it looks like in order to get the full functionality of the touchscreen controls all you need to do is plug them into an open USB slot of any machine (instead of the audio out jack). The USB routes into an onboard DAC sound proce...

Did you go out and buy the Bose 2 speakers yet? In my experience Bose is very good at advertising, but usually dollar for dollar their speakers don't stand up well to competitor's products. Actually I find that they charge a roughly 30-50% price premium over similar quality products simply because ...

Would anyone have an answer to this at all? I'm going to get the monitor today if I can, along with a good keyboard and speakers (already selected the Bose 2), but I'm still unsure if it makes a difference whether the external monitor is 4:3 or 16:9 if the x61T is 4:3. Does that somehow mess up the ...

External Monitor and Keyboard for x61T

I am thinking about getting a monitor and keyboard for my x61T since I am now in my home office more and more and would like a bigger screen. Here are my questions: 1. Does the monitor need to be the same 4:3 screen as the tablet? I'm wondering if getting a 16:9 screen stretches the screen and disto...

Wiping R50e clean

Would anyone know how I can completely and 100% wipe all data off this machine and basically start "over" with it? You can delete the registry entries for those two programs and get the same results. They are located on Hklm software microsoft Windows current version run, along with many more start up applications. Along these lines, I would be interested in knowing how many of these start ups, like you mention...

Hard Drive defrag has nothing to do with memory. When you say only "89MB, with 62% of free space", do you mean "89GB, with 62% of free space" ? That is referring to space on your hard drive, not free or installed memory. You won't notice a difference going from 2 to 3GB RAM unless you run multiple ...

Added Memory...is it there?

I just added 2GB of memory, bringing my system up to 3GB. I had previously added an additional 1GB, but removed that stick, and replaced it with the 2GB. I have a x61T running XP. When I look under system information, it does in fact show the 3GB (actually says 2.97GB). However, when I run a defrag ...
