Also, they have 1.8" drives that fit in a special groove.
The others mentioned all have 2.5" drives and can use rubber rails.
Thanks for the info RBS; corrected the post.

Where to buy non-stinky HDD rails?

Can anyone fill me in on where to buy the grey color rails we occasionally see on the internet (but can no longer find)? I've been an X60 owner for some years and noticed two different color HDD rubber rails were typically available, grey and black, black being predominant. All the black rails I own...

Followup to my previous post: Called MS, virtually a waste of time. I did find a procedure which seems to have ended the problem, though it's only been a day. 1) go to http://support.microsoft.com/pag 2) had to validate and was prompted to download a file named WindowsActivationUpdate.exe 3) ran the...

Re: W7 "not genuine" message

I'd love to know what he did too. On a T41 here W7 throws a periodic 'not genuine' message. It's a legal copy, one of three from a 'family pack'. To remove the message I click on 'My Computer', Properities. It's annoying to see the message, annoying to have to go through the routine to 'fix' it, but...

I have a T41 and X60, both with multiboot systems, and the same here ... Win7 is far less energy efficient. XP gives 20-25% better battery life. But better than them all though is my X31. Amazing battery life with that OLD laptop. Go figure! (see sig for laptop spec's)

Hello jdubin and welcome to the forums! Wish I could answer your question but it sounds very mysterious. Just curious, have you removed the battery and run strictly off the power adapter, moving the laptop, switching between the TP and dock? If you have and all is well I'd think the power circuits a...

Just wanted to give an update for those considering buying one of the Lenovo Ac/Dc adapters/chargers. Ordered the 'older' $19.99 unit from eBay seller. Arrived quickly, looked clean, even came with a case which as I recall was not listed. Nice bonus! Charger works great. Barely gets warm on Dc. Gets...

Some years ago I bought one of those cheap Chinese models , THEY'RE JUNK . The one I bought got so HOT I thought it would cause a fire! RBS, thanks for your reply. Pulled the old CCFL tube out (what a LONG tedious job), checked the length, the glass measured 11-7/16 (290mm as you said). Checked around for 290mm bulbs and couldn't find them anywhere else with same light output so ordered from Moniserv. Not looking forward to reassemb...

Best source for replacement CCFL (backlight)?

Hi Guys Have to replace two CCFL's (two T41 XGA 14" screens, both light slowly, have a pinkish hue initially). Was wondering a couple of things: 1. best source for a GOOD CCFL replacement tube? 2. correct size for my T41's (2 x 290mm or 292mm)? - assuming 292mm is correct length - found tubes at Mou...

atanasoff, I'll give you some numbers I use but ultimately you'll have to see if they work for you. What I've done is find voltage levels where the PC is stable then upped them a little as a 'safety' margin. Start with .748v end with 1.228v The voltage can be incremented evenly as you progress throu...

Re: How does the X31 hold up these days?

I have an X60 (C2D) 2GHz and an X31 1.7GHz. Both are nice although must say I much prefer the look and feel of the X31 (a little more rugged and sleek, IMO). The X60 is great if you NEED the extra CPU power and graphic capabilities (X31 is limited by its 16MB video). The X60 is runs hotter on the la...

My T42's GPU became loose and I temporaily fixed it with a stack of paper between the keyboard and GPU. It has been working fine for about 30 hours. I simply purchased a PCMCIA to CompactFlash adapter. The SD card/port is speedy as anything. So fast in fact that I've started installing programs to it and they fly open. AMATX , I'm curious, after you 'clone' the two are you planning to keep them synchronized, as in always having two identical laptops (i.e. one for backup)?
