Changing the Windows key used in the recovery partition

I recently bought a second X220 off eBay, in extremely fine condition. However, the Windows 7 installed, although it had some "Lenovo" wallpaper, was non-standard and the ThinkVantage button did not behave as expected, and did not allow booting into the recovery environment. There was a recovery par...

Re: Mobile Broadband for X220

Hello, I have an X220 (4290-2VM) and recently obtained a X220 (4290-CE3). The former came with the F5521gw factory, but I am not certain about whether the latter is "mobile broadband ready" with WWAN antenna and SIM card slot all wired up and ready to go. Examining the parts list for the former, doe...

Reliable SSD drives for the X220

Hello, I recently bought a second hand X220 (4290-CE3), since I needed another dose of ThinkPad classic, lest it's likes are never to be seen again. When I bought my first X220 at the beginning of 2013, I flirted with an SSD (OCZ Vector), which went swimmingly for three weeks, until the SSD transmog...

Hello, I have just bought a second-hand, X220 (4290-CE3), which is WWAN ready. I needed another dose of Thinkpad Classic. Could anyone recommend a reputable ebay vendor of a Lenovo compatible Ericsson F5521gw? (Lenovo Part: 0A36186; FRU: 60Y3279) Any assistance most gratefully apprised. Thank you.

Thinkpad X220, Inbuilt USB 3.0 ports and express cards

Hello, I have a need to obtain some more old-school, classic, ABDF design ( Ain't Broke Don't Fix ) Thinkpad hardware, caring not for the Apple macbook design singularity that most laptops seem to be heading into, including alas, tragically, the latest Thinkwads ( errm, sorry ) Thinkpads. Still in the process of upgrading components - I will report in properly, when complete!

With regards to the stickers - can they be removed by hand/finger-nail without having to recourse to solvents for any glue residuum? - and is there any risk of damaging the laptop surfaces? - Thank you.

16 GB of deep, deep space coming my way; after my T40 (still my primary machine) and my x60s, when the X220 is also kitted out with an SSD - my mind will be officially blown. 8)
