2021 Thinkpads

Rumours and initial discussion of new 2021 Thinkpads. What's coming out in 2021 ? Currently X1 Nano's are making their way into the real world, there was a rumour of 16:10 aspect ratio screens on the next X1 Carbon , an X1 Titanium is due sometime, and that's about all I know of currently. Previous ...

Re: Lenovo CES 2020

Not much going on at the moment, but I was wondering what the X1 Titanium is. This is a different model to the metal-bodied Yoga ? What is the difference to the X1 Carbon ? Just a metal chassis, in which case why ? Is it really going to have a screen 0.5" smaller than the Carbon ? Not much point in ...

Re: 16:10 returns to ThinkPads: The X1 Nano

It seems a bit weird to limit this to 16GB. That's probably fine at the moment, but I had imagined most serious new design laptops could be configured up to 32GB. Oh for the days of a free RAM slot for later expansion, you could get 16GB and have a slot free if you needed more later on.

Re: Lenovo CES 2020

Having squinted at the blurry low-res pic on the "Verizon leak", I don't think this is the same device as on the Lenovo roadmap slides leak. The latter seems to have a border either side of the keyboard, whereas the former is (almost ?) edge-to-edge. One or both could be placeholder pictures.

Re: 16:10 returns to ThinkPads: The X1 Nano

With Thunderbolt you get DisplayPort so you can connect to any modern monitor, and there seem to be lots of cheap Thunderbolt to HDMI cables if you really want to connect to HDMI (please correct me if I'm wrong in this, I get all this stuff mixed up sometimes, but I think this is right ?). So maybe ...

Re: Lenovo CES 2020

X1 Nano is a 13" 16:10 Thinkpad, see thread on this site.

On the leaked slides on Twitter, the "2020 Thinkpad Commercial Porfolio" slide has an NEC logo in the top right of the X13 image, which is odd. What's that about ?

Re: 16:10 returns to ThinkPads: The X1 Nano

To be honest, I'm not particularly upset about ports. One to dock to a monitor, which has a hub for keyboard, mouse etc, and one spare which would be rarely used, maybe handy to plug in a camera / phone / memory card occasionally is just about tolerable. Really don't care about an optical drive - is...

Re: Lenovo CES 2020

To be honest I've never had a problem with wifi. At home, internet speeds are 70 Mbps down, nearly 20 Mbps up using an internet speed test and I've never noticed a slow down, and coverage across (my admittedly small) home is fine. I'm not transferring large amounts of data between multiple machines ...

Bunch of stuff over at notebookcheck.net : • A summary of the latest Thinkpads and forthcoming reviews . • P15 and P17 gain better cooling design and are more modular (e.g. GPU is on a daughtercard). • X1 Nano arrives in November, and is a 13" X1 series Thinkpad (no details on what screen aspect rat...

X13 appears on some obscure bit of lenovo.com, but not the main X-series page yet : https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/coming-soon/ThinkPad-X13-Intel-/p/22TPX13X3N1 I imagine it's indistinguishable externally from an X390. Re: Lenovo CES 2020

What's an X12 ? Well, obviously it would be a 12" X-series machine, but I haven't heard anything about this one. I said the same thing (minus specifically Ice Lake) in the CES 2020 thread I made , and forum member bgx pointed out that they usually get announced after CES, which I had forgotten, for example check this post in the CES 2019 thread . So leaks may appear anywhere from end of January, and announceme...

Re: T25 appears to be sold-out in US lenovo web store

I had saved this text from somewhere, can't remember if it is from this forum or elsewhere (I assume it's accurate ?) : Historically, ThinkPads had 2.5 mm key travel (T420 keyboard). This was reduced to 2.1 mm with the T440(s), then 1.7 mm with the T460s. T490s still has 1.7 mm. The only models with...

X1C G8 at notebookcheck and anandtech. Not sure much significant has changed apart from CPU refresh (not sure, notebookcheck says CPUs are new, anandtech says they're the same generation as before). They moved the X1 logo on the lid so it looks a bit neater.

Imagine a Thinkpad X13 with that screen and bezels, an edge-to-edge keyboard, trackpoint, in traditional Thinkpad black and design. Throw in the seven row keyboard and my order's definitely in. I say this every year though, and I know the probability is zero !

Lenovo CES 2020

Another year, another CES thread (following the Lenovo CES 2019 and Lenovo CES 2018 threads). What major excitements await us ? The name change to T14, X13 etc, and ... well not sure much else of note is going to happen apart from the usual minor feature / component bumps ?
