Re: 2022 Thinkpads
After many, many years of waiting for something really compelling, I've given up and bought a Mac. So, don't say I didn't do anything for you, the T30th is now bound to be a dense, minimal black slab of deliciousness with a 7-row keyboard. Yes! Thank you Lenovo! An X1 with the "ThinkPad" sticker in...

Re: 2022 Thinkpads
Has anyone seen any rumours at all since the ones months ago about a 30th Anniversary Thinkpad ? I haven't seen anything. Everytime I get my T410s out for brief use I miss having that keyboard (7-row, "old" style Thinkpad keyboard). I don't know what the "new" style Thinkpad keyboards are like as I'...

Re: 2022 Thinkpads
I haven't looked around here in a while, and also idly clicked on notebookcheck's website, and found that this random browse coincided with a bunch of Thinkpad news today. X13s (ARM, fanless) T14, T16 (16:10 screens, 1.5mm key travel down from 1.8mm) T14s (16:10, OLED option) P14s, P16si X1 Extreme ...

Re: A gift to my sister: the last Classic Thinkpad
Which OS is your sister running ? I have a T410s with no battery life (so it stays on mains), with a wobbly (and now cracking around the hinges) lid, just dropped the lid and fished out the docking station. It's on Windows 10 Pro, having successively upgraded from Windows 7 (no clean install here !)...

Re: 2022 Thinkpads
From a little info piece on the Z-series (from xda-developers.com The keyboard itself has 1.35mm keys, the same as can be found on the ThinkPad X1 Nano and ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga. It’s another thing about this device that feels modern, compared to the 1.5mm keys on the ThinkPad X1 Carbon or even ...

Re: 2022 Thinkpads
What are the X13s Gen 1 (I suppose I can guess, and that would be something that fits into the practically non-existant gap between X13 and X1 Nano) and the Z13 Gen 1 ? How many practically identical, but distinct models can Lenovo sell ? Is there any point to the "s" models now that there are X1 mo...

2022 Thinkpads
Rumours and initial discussion of new 2022 Thinkpads. What's coming out in 2022 ? Currently there's nothing in particular that I've heard of. Given the X1 Carbon G9 redesign, I guess the 2022 version will be much the same, but with updated CPUs. Hopefully there'll be something for the 30th anniversa...

Re: 2021 Thinkpads
notebookcheck.net review of the X1 Carbon G9, an explanation for the very subtly bulged lid, some nice improvements, but a marginally worse keyboard compared to the previous generation in their opinion (though I think they prefer it to the X1 Nano keyboard).

Re: Why THINKPADS & who's 2nd best ?
Here's an interesting laptop (admittedly from a startup, so who knows how long they'll be around). The concept is a more modular and repairable laptop, while keeping a modern form factor. Framework startup designed a thin, modular, repairable 13-inch laptop . Whether there's a trend to better repair...

Re: 2021 Thinkpads
Notebookcheck's first take on the X1 Nano is that the keyboard with reduced travel is disappointing (rest seems good). Someone on reddit found a bunch of Thinkpad certification registrations, if accurate, the X13 will be 16:10, T14(s) 16:9.

Ah, OK. I want an X1 Classic - one of the new 16:10 X1's with a T25 keyboard, I don't mind it being slightly thicker, as long as the other dimensions don't grow. I think a supersonic pig just flew over.

Re: Why THINKPADS & who's 2nd best ?
Well, *maybe* the upcoming 30th ThinkPad Anniversary in the Year 2022 might have something like a "T30" (my own naming convention, "30" for 30th anniversary). It's 14" LCD, got most of what you want, but no ThinkLight (looks like it's gone forever). [Edit]I do realize that there's an old ThinkPad m...

2021 Thinkpads
Rumours and initial discussion of new 2021 Thinkpads. What's coming out in 2021 ? Re: Lenovo CES 2020
Not much going on at the moment, but I was wondering what the X1 Titanium is. This is a different model to the metal-bodied Yoga ? What is the difference to the X1 Carbon ? Just a metal chassis, in which case why ? Is it really going to have a screen 0.5" smaller than the Carbon ? Not much point in ...

Re: 16:10 returns to ThinkPads: The X1 Nano
It seems a bit weird to limit this to 16GB. That's probably fine at the moment, but I had imagined most serious new design laptops could be configured up to 32GB. Oh for the days of a free RAM slot for later expansion, you could get 16GB and have a slot free if you needed more later on.

Re: Lenovo CES 2020
Having squinted at the blurry low-res pic on the "Verizon leak", I don't think this is the same device as on the Lenovo roadmap slides leak. The latter seems to have a border either side of the keyboard, whereas the former is (almost ?) edge-to-edge. One or both could be placeholder pictures.

Re: 16:10 returns to ThinkPads: The X1 Nano
With Thunderbolt you get DisplayPort so you can connect to any modern monitor, and there seem to be lots of cheap Thunderbolt to HDMI cables if you really want to connect to HDMI (please correct me if I'm wrong in this, I get all this stuff mixed up sometimes, but I think this is right ?). So maybe ...
