Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p

will do thanks! unfortunately win0win ran out of those. I ordered an SPB4 from notebookaid here . Hopefully it will arrive safely and be in good shape. Panel arrived and is SPB4, well packed and looks brand new. Will have to wait for the upcoming next batch to determine if it's fully functional.

It's OK if you confirm the exact model with the seller.
Yes, the seller confirmed they had both SPB3 and SPB4 in stock, and just to let them know which one I need. We'll have to see if they get it right.

Re: Upgrading X220/X230 to FHD 1080p

The next batch is not yet sent to factory - I want to make it large enough to fit all pre-orders. I'm going to finish dispatching the 2nd batch just as before and start accepting deposits from those who turned out to be in the 3rd batch. Hi, Is it going to be one big batch or two smaller batches? Re: 1 TB 7mm hard drive

The drive arrived today. It fit perfectly and took all of 2 minutes to swap in for the 128 GB SSD that came with the laptop. :-) My initial concern was with the fit; time will tell how reliable it is. It will be nice to have more room to breathe! I'm booting off a 256 GB MSATA SSD and will try to ke...

1 TB 7mm hard drive

Western Digital recently announced a 1 TB 7mm hard drive (model WD10SPCX) that should fit into the X230 without modifications: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=800 I've been on the lookout for this drive, but nobody seems to have it in stock yet. This Ebay auction just turned up in a ...

Wow, can't wait to hear more, erik. Can you also talk briefly about battery life difference with the new panel? And if a custom firmware is required, will one be made available?

Congrats on the successful mod!

It looks like some sort of coverage may be going up on Lenovo's site soon, because there's some pics of a modified X61s on their Flickr photo stream.

I wonder, how does this affect the weight of the X61s?

I think that a closer comparison will be the X200 v. X61. From the pictures available, it looks like they stretched the X61, giving it a full-size keyboard and widescreen display (still no touch pad). I don't think it's crazy to say it will be 1280x800. Some questions remain about how the X200 will ...

I tried the profile from this thread on an X61t recently and it worked well. The tablet had the multitouch screen. If you have the high-res screen you may need a different color profile.

If any of you try my calibrated profile, please post wether it made your screen better or worse, its not gauranteed to work, so I'm interested in the results. You can always go back to the old profile with a couple mouse clicks. Thanks, it works great in Linux using xcalib . Colors look much more v...

What I did was ssh'd in to the ThinkPad and edited the theme file, and then ctrl-alt-backspace to test. Not the best way, but works. I guess another option would be to use a tty <7 instead of ssh.

ThinkPad GDM theme

Hi,

I made a GDM theme in the ThinkPad style; it's available here.

Currently it looks best at 1024x768. I'm working on a higher resolution and widescreen version, but they may not be available for a couple weeks so I thought I'd post this now.

It's the Atheros. I think I read that you don't get the palmrest fan unless your ThinkPad came with WWAN. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. You still get the air intake on the right hand side which I suppose helps keep the X61[s] cooler than the X60[s]. Regardless, mine still gets hot, and the...
