I always thought it was the SSD back when I used to have an X301.

I am thinking about the t420s and was wondering if I should go with the i5 or the i7. The price is not the problem here. I just want the one that will perform better. Try cleaning it off with some rubbing alcohol and a something that won't leave any fibers/lint behind.

so far I only saw explicit positive experience with 2nd gen of intel SSDs with X301, but what about SSDSA1NW160G301 which is from 320 series? anyone positive/negative? P.S. Many online retailers for some reason have images of 2.5" drives for this model which is 1.8" and described as such usually......

I've used it with VirtualBox, but only one active VM at a time. It worked great with that.

Just the drive in a box. That's it. Unless you specifically buy the kit that comes with some cables and such. I think I remember hearing it is a SATA 3.0Gb/s port.

I believe the only non-Intel ones they put in now are Samsung and Micron.

To find out the model installed in your laptop you can either pull the drive out or use a program like CrystalDiskInfo (my preferred method).
