Re: Haswell thinkpads coming soon?
We won´t see Haswell in ThinkPads until September/October: http://abload.de/thumb/screenshot57qbr1.png Seems weird to me that Lenovo one of the top 3 manufacturers of the world would wait so long... I mean there are already non-thinkpad lenovo's running the new chip out there apparently: http://www...

Re: Questions about the x220/x230
That doesn't make sense to me. The X61 is indeed taller, but the vertical resolution is the same, which should give you the same number of lines. If anything you should get more lines on the X220 because it's more wide, it would allow text to spread out more. Not so much for word docs, but you shou...

Re: Questions about the x220/x230
Thanks force! The picture really helps! :D I didn't check in for a while but I actually ended up putting an SSD in my x61s. This upgrade combined with Windows 8 postponed my acquisition of a new x-series ThinkPad. I'm actually quite curious what and when a new x-series will be announced. Hopefully s...

Questions about the x220/x230
Hi everyone, So it's been a long time ;-) (Last visit was: Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:29 am) but that's mainly due to the fact that my trusty x61s has never failed me yet (even though the battery is good for perhaps 20 minutes and the adapter only works if the cord is not stretched to much :D ) But it's go...

There's really not much you can do... A single live pixel isn't covered in the warranty. There are some utils out there that claim to unstuck live pixels by means of rotating the colors very fast. I tried them but it didn't do much for me. The other option is to gently massage the live pixel with th...

Memory configuration queston for x61s
Heyall, I was browsing to upgrade my x61s (7669) memory. I'm somewhat confused by the conflicting things I read about the memory though. The lenovo site : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-55644.html#x states I can use : PC2-5300 CL5 DDR2 SDRAM 200-pin non-parity SoDIMM So I looked aro...

Update... My X61s did develop one hot pixel (stuck pixel color white).. It's really not that noticable except when you're in a dark room then it sticks out somewhat... It could possibly just be a stuck sub-pixel because it's hardly noticable on a black background (just slightly greyish spot when loo...

I'll answer my own question... apparently it's a known issue as can be read here :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/120834
Let's hope something is done about this quickly... cause it's kinda annoying atm
.

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing problems with OpenGL on their X61s or other X6x(s). I installed Blender 3d and the moment i 'm done actually rendering something and try to do another action it crashes my x-server and keeps crashing it in a loop. I'm using a basic Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 32...

My X61s came with Vista Business. I created backup media and removed Vista along with the recovery partition and created a XP-professional / Ubuntu gutsy dual boot system :-). Although I also never use windows XP, just for the occasional software that isn't available for Ubuntu and sometimes a game....

I've been noticing the hot palm-rest also... Although i didn't use vista long enough to notice a difference there. Still an interesting question, so if people know something let us know! Regarding your WWAN card you can check with powertop to see if it's drawing power. With luck it'll also give you ...

I disagree it's not THAT straight-forward... Sure it is if you just want to clone or extend your desktop... However true multil-head meaning 2 distinct desktops (which is the way i prefer it) is far from straightforward. Thusfar i've spend a few hours trying to configure it and i've not yet been suc...

sudo aticonfig --initial=dual-head I didn't try it on my laptop, but I have a desktop with two monitors. Each have their seperat desktop. Unfortunately the x61s does not have an nvidia or ati graphics card or i'd be using envy to fix it... It uses the x3100 from intell. So i'm still open to suggest...

thanks for explaining... when i reinstall vista i'll use that option. I also see why i wasn't able to find it... i only tried recovery from the dvd's to check if they were created succesfully. I'm very curious on how you did a factory recovery without the bloatware... I also created recovery disks and did reinstall them to see if there was an option to install without bloatware. But as far as i could check you only got two options to agree with. One was the vista EULA and the other was so...

I have got the 7669-27G with the windows vista business 32 (since a week) and i gotta say it's ridiculous... It came pre-installed with other bloatware for a total amount of 30,5 Gb of the 120 Gb available. So effectively you lose about a quarter of your hd-space. As you get no real vista install di...

The factory restore (i'm finishing one as i type this on my X61s) does not require the Operating System Disc (step 1 in the restore factory install) nor the additional discs (step 3 in the restore factory install) or so it seems. I was somewhat baffled by the entire lack of documentation on this par...

I already ordered and have just received my new x61s and as far as early inspection shows i have no dead pixels... and as far as i have been able to tell no stuck pixels either. If you had read the whole review and not just the pro's and con's you had read that the reviewer while using this laptop for an extended period at one time threw his x61s on the couch like he regularly did with his R60.
