Re: How to Fresh Install Win XP (Step-by-Step Guide)

Has anyone used a Dell XP Pro reinstallation disc instead? It is almost identical to a normal XP disc. I suppose I could extract the i386 folder from the Dell disc and use this guide to make a disc but if I can avoid doing this that would be great.

Re: Is Vista 7b stable enough for normal usage

It's my sole OS on my T23, not bad for an 8 year old computer. Installation is easier than XP due to more drivers being detected. I'm not a power user but everyday operation is near as quick as XP.

This week I got a NOS X41 and ran into the same issue as the OP. The problem was XP's date was ahead one day and when I set the date back I got the error message. Once the date Symantec lists as first date used is on or before XP's date the problem goes away.

Closer inspection shows that the stick that does not beep has one gold pin where a portion is scraped off. The other stick gives 4 beeps, no extra pause in between the beeps. This stick has a cracked chip. I do have a x22 but at this point I don't think it would be wise to test it. Would this ram be...

Installed two MT16LSDF6464HG-133C2 CL3 chips in my T23. When either is installed they beep 4 times and one of them sometimes does not beep at all. In all cases the screen is blank and the machine does not boot. Needless to say when both sticks are installed it does not work either. I don't think its...

X40 recovery discs on X41

Would it be wise to use a set of XP SP2 X40 recovery discs on a X41? I did this and it seems to work but will I run into problems down the road? Also, XP did not asks for a key...is this normal? I am using a hard drive from a X40 that had a previous install of XP and I plan to sell the X41 so I don'...

Same thing happened to my T23 and Booq case. Two scratches that run near the entire length. I got a new T42 that I still store in its plastic bag until
I get one of those cloth sleeves to use with the Booq.

Another option would be to put the TP in with the seams facing the bottom of the TP.

Hard Drive upgrade ?

Planning to swap out the original HD on my T42 to something bigger. If the T42 still has 2 years warranty left does the HD's 2 years warranty transfer to whoever buys the HD? If my T42 has to be sent to IBM for warranty will there be a problem because I don't have the original HD.

TIA

Will Vista have better support for high resolution displays as far as being able to scale up display items? With XP I am limited to using 14" XGA because at higher resolutions everything is too small and the methods to scale up text and such is unsatisfactory.

I also have a T23 and the main difference between it and a T4X is the screen.
Comparing between the two with both XGA screens the T42 is WAY brighter and has more accurate colors. Performance wise yes the t42 was faster but not worth double the cost.

I sold my old HD off my T23 on ebay and the buyer says its DOA. It was working the day I sent it off and I packed it up well.
