they also have different SXGA+ displays. x60t is a tad less bright but also less grainy and smudge free. x60t is also more robust as ist comes with a single piece chassis, x61t is 2 pieces to better replace the keyboard. Differences in speed/chipset are imho neglectable. Overall I think x60t is the ...

You can use Openstreetmaps/Kosmos (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Kosmos) which also works offline. This is Open Source Software. No routing yet, only shows your position on a map.

I would say that people buying Thinkpads look particularly for the technique and the specs. Apple buyers instead are more interested want they can do with their machine an do not care so much how the technique behind works. They do care for style, yes, but surely Apple users also want to be producti...

yes. All these power settings have only little impact if any. Set it to dynamic (speedstep) and you are fine. Neither can you save battery by reducing it nor can you improve performance by setting it to maximum as this is done automatically by speedstepping. I think Microsoft has integrated this bec...

I would like to see a 12" SXGA+ non-widescreen, diskless, fanless solution from Lenovo. Ideally a slate with capacitive touch. No bezel keys, no navdial, only an On/Off switch, that's enough. Maximize screen real estate per chassis volume ratio instead. I/O ports can all go away if it provides some ...

IMHO, a desktop attached by Ethernet is a better solution than a dock attached to the monitor. This way you can stay mobile if you like, can access a fast HDD or RAID in the Desktop, can have all the input/output attached to it, you can still use your desktop, you can leave that on 24x7 if you like,...

If you are going to stay with your other computer you might want a solution to run both with the monitor without replugging the cable all the time. There are pretty cool software solutions for that such as synergy, MaxiVista and others. You can use your desktop keyboard if you like and have an app o...

Well, one is Flexview and the other TN, no comparison there, IPS wins by miles! I am not so sure here. For your daily work it does not so much matter what brightness, color saturation, contrast, viewing angle etc you get. At the end it is more about how relaxed it is going for your eyes on a 8+ hou...

here are some good shots of the Superview panel outdoors:

As you can see it is readable. But it is stressful if you really want to do some work under such light conditions.

Regarding touchscreen discussion: there is now a technology leap forward going on, induced by capacitive touch (instead of resistive touch). This will be much cheaper, more accurate, more responsive, grain free and will make a huge difference. Particularly on devices too small to fit in a full sized...

Bios update, yes. That is what they usually do and then claim that issue was fixed. So you have to send it back in again. Best thing you can do to avoid such things next time is to write the problem (and solution if you know) on a sheet of paper for the technicians people an stick it to the machine....

So what is your resolution? VGA out on the x61t should be sharp up to 1600x1050 on 60Hz. Edit: I see you even get drab quality natively on the TFT. Then there seems to be something wrong in your color table settings. My tablet screen (SXGA+) produces wonderful and saturated colors. Easily the best I...

jdhurst, I was nor refering to your post but to the general thread topic.
I am also quite peased with XP. Now got Vista on new x61t. But there I struggled endlessly with the "Battery Drain Bug", http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=53757. Switched to Xubuntu and had no issues at all.
