I don't know if it's feasible but you could always, as a last resort, do the Thinkpad recovery scenario, i.e., backup all of your data and then do the factory recovery thing-- THAT should solve it. If it doesn't then there is some sort of hardware problem with your display and it should be replaced....

Have you tried simply uninstalling the present driver and reinstalling a fresh driver--should be available from the lenovo website.
