Success. Thanks for the suggestion of PartedMagic. Works like a charm and if you spend some time reading the instructions to absorb the material it really helps. Anyway, I created a CDR from the .iso file and booted the R61 up with it. What I saw as available partitions was the 106GB primary on the ...

Simply want to add an extended partition to R61
Hello All I finally made the plunge and got an R61 8934 A7U Thinkpad and am very impressed overall. Just one thing: Having a 120GB HD, I would like to simply add a second extended partition and use it as the data drive. Ideally I would like to dual-boot it with Win2K Pro but I know that you should a...

I don't know if it's feasible but you could always, as a last resort, do the Thinkpad recovery scenario, i.e., backup all of your data and then do the factory recovery thing-- THAT should solve it. If it doesn't then there is some sort of hardware problem with your display and it should be replaced....

Have you tried simply uninstalling the present driver and reinstalling a fresh driver--should be available from the lenovo website. Get the latest driver from Lenovo first, uninstall the present driver, reboot and when it says whatever is found as far as the display adaptor point it toward your new ...

Thanks for the info Andy, really appreciate it. You were saying that the 5250 would produce less heat. That makes sense to me too but I have also heard that the 7100 would produce less heat and that this person wanted to "stay away" from 1.5Ghz processors (the 5250) but didn't explain why. Do either...

ThinkPad R61i or R61 fan noise
Was just wondering if anyone had either of these laptops what the fan noise levels were. Do either of the processors (R61i has 5250/R61 has 7100) run cooler than the other? I'm unfortunately very sensitive to fans going on and off constantly, less sensitive to the fan running for a while to cool the...

ThinkPad R61i (8932BXU) vs. Thinkpad R61 (8934A7U)
Hello Was wondering if anyone had an opinion on either of these laptops. The R61i has the 5250 Core 2 duo and the R61 has the 7100. The R61i has Bluetooth and a webcam and the R61 doesn't. I'm leaning toward the R61 because of the higher processor but it may not make much difference as both will be ...

ThinkPad R61i (8932BXU) headphone jack location?
Hello I was wondering if anyone had this model or knows the answer to this question: where on this model of thinkpad is the headphone jack located? I am hoping on the left side. There aren't consistent pictures even from Lenovo on the EXACT model picture used; it seems you get either a pic of a R61/...
