I still mainly use Pale Moon without problems. My pet peeve is browsers that force you to include icons on the bookmark toolbar. On Pale Moon, I have 30 links visible on the horizontal bar; with icons+text I could only include about 20.

Re: Buying a W520 in 2019?

It depends on what you are doing. For example, the i7-2640M used in the T520 has somewhat better single-core performance than the i7-6500U found in many 2016 laptops, and somewhat worse mult-core performance. Not everything can use multiple cores. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-6500U-vs-Intel...

Re: T60p Supposed to Feel This Slow

For office type stuff, the T60p is still very fast, but modern web pages are hogs. Check to see if you are running out of ram --- unfortunately, 3 GB is the most it can use. (This is a major advantage of the Frankenpads, which can use 8 GB).

The X220/T520 are the last with the classic 7-row keyboard. They are also faster than some later laptops with low power chips. The 1900x1080 screens on the T520 are quite good (but 16:9).

Re: Question for battery experts: proper inverter?

It all depends on how many watts the cpap requires. This should be noted on it. I assume the battery is 12 volts, so 50aH means it can provide 12x50=600 watt hours. If the cpap requires 50w, it should run but only (theoretically) for 12 hours (in practice, significantly less).

Fourth Amendment does not apply on entering the U.S. (nor does any other protection) because you are not officially in the country. And of course N.Z. has protections against unreasonable searches.

Among genuine 3:2 laptops, there are only the Matebooks, the Microsoft Surface laptop, and a few cheap knock-offs that don't look promising. This site is very useful for comparing different shapes:
http://www.displaywars.com/14,1-inch-4x ... 1-inch-3x2

I think 3:2 is the best we can hope for since the manufacturers have spent the last decade pushing 16:9 as !!!new!!! and 4:3 as obsolete. Perhaps 3:2 will become the !!!newnew!!!.

It is encouraging to see people advertising the ratio of the screen area to the laptop area (91% for the new Matebook vs 69% for the Thinkpad T25). This is a number that really matters, and may encourage taller screens.

There is also the problem that only about 1% of purchasers know that a 15 inch 4:3 screen is bigger than a 15.4 inch 16:10 screen, which is bigger than a 15.6 inch 16:9 screen (in area). Also a 13.3 inch 4:3 screen is bigger than a 14 inch 16:9 screen.

It's not about having "sexy thin bezels". It's about having the largest screen for a given laptop size.

Ratio of screen area to that of laptop:
TP25 (16:9) 69.1%
T60 (4:3) 14.1in 77.2%
T60 (4:3) 15in 78.3%
X60/X61 (4:3) 81.7%
Matebook X (3:2) 88%.

@IBthink. What are you talking about? A 12.25x8.15 screen in a 13.35x9.15 computer would allow half-inch bezels on all sides. They could do that 10 year ago. Are you arguing they can't do it now?
