Hi Micha, thanks for the input. I tried your suggestion but it didn't make a difference. However, after googling I found some other entries to try. So I put them all in and found what works. I would suggest Ubuntu if you are wanting an easy distro to start off with. Great community support and the entire distro is very polished and refined. You may find that the majority of your device issues will work straight out of the box. I would be very suprised if you could not get your wireless ...
